Founded by a small group of teen-aged friends on Detroit's west side in the mid-1970s, in less than two years, YBI took over the majority of southeast Michigan's heroin trade with absolutely no interference from any other crime groups. Stories were told and embellished upon to the point that the truths of events were no longer identifiable.

Throughout his career, Ferranti has remained a passionate advocate for criminal justice reform and has spoken out against the war on drugs. Jones and his JBM went on to dominate the North and West Philadelphia drug trade in the crack era, taking counsel from Mims behind bars. The charges are eventually dropped but while Jones and Brown were in jail, they assigned LeRoy (Bucky) Davis as acting boss of JBM. Black American and Italian-American organized crime groups in the Northeast and Midwest instead began to cooperate (and at times compete) to a greater extent than in previous decades, increasingly sharing profits and coordinating rackets.He earned three college degrees during his sentence and became an expert on gangsters, drug lords, and prison gangs, penning over 20 hard hitting books on the subject. On Tuesday, however, about 600 mourners at the Philadelphia Masjid mosque in West Philly paid homage to another side of Christian, known as Beyah.

The war opened up numerous jobs, causing 50,000 Blacks to move into Chicago from 1916 to 1920, with 90% of the population being on Chicago's South Side. to organize under a single umbrella with networks in North, North Central, Northwest, and Southwest Philadelphia.
