About this deal

The part of the stroller to grab as a handle when it is folded is not obvious, so the employees loading the stroller would often grab the wrong handle and it would come unfolded. It’s the most compact model in the British-designed and engineered Micralite family, outstanding in its intuitive foldability. It isn’t overly complicated and even my mum can do it (honestly, my mum hasn’t been able to fold any of our pushchairs! Micralite is part of the Silver Cross family, a brand known for its high-performance products with an aim to make parenting that bit easier.

This stroller folds so small that it will fit easily into any car boot or overhead locker and it is even cabin baggage approved with British Airways, Jet 2 and Easyjet. I would probably wait until at least 6 months as these lightweight prams don’t have the cocoon effect that other sturdier prams offer. The ProFold is truly one-handed and not at all complicated – I actually folded it down for the first time without even looking at the manual. She noted, however, that the suspension allowed for enough movement in the frame that it could feel like some caution would be needed when turning quickly, but this was also noted in other buggies tested and didn’t actually pose any problems.

As Theo grew from a baby to a toddler, I decided that it was time to move on to smaller, lighter and more nimble every-day pram. It’s strong and made with premium grade outdoor fabric with UPF50+ protection – ideal for holiday travel. Although her three-year-old walked alongside her when travelling up and down stairs, she was able to manage the buggy and a bag while holding her daughter’s hand.

The stroller is also really smart, it has a lovely leather bar in front to keep the child safe (and attach any toys to! Meanwhile, the ProFold also passed our topple test with flying colours, not faltering when our tester hung a full changing bag on the handlebar both with and without her child in the seat. However, at around 20 months, I realised that Theo no longer needed such a cumbersome pram frame and that it was time to reclaim my car boot space!

The reversible seat cover is machine-washable, washing and air drying beautifully after having been soaked with a cup of juice and smeared with mud. I was interested in the suspension feature, and I really do think it makes a difference on bumpy sidewalks. It would also be a convenient second buggy for short trips and a good choice for those with very little storage space at home. But when I’ve got the Micralite ProFold, I just pick the whole thing up with Alba inside and carry it up the steps. Adele tucked the buggy into her front porch, kept it in her car boot and it even did some time in her coat cupboard when not in use. The four-wheel suspension and large back wheels aid its stability and give a smooth ride over a variety of terrain. Micralite's ProFold buggy is perfect for travelling, being incredibly compact, lightweight and folding up in just one move.
