The first night we used it a unexpected rain and high wind storm happened and it held fast and did very good. There were a couple of days where it took an hour or more, but I always found a place to set up camp. Make sure to leave at least two vents open if possible, allowing any breeze to provide cross-flow ventilation for maximum circulation. It’s great to see it included as it not only improves durability but also, in our opinion, adds to the value proposition of this tent.

Inside of the tent, there is a wonderful small bag which can make your trip more fun, just put your books or magazines in the bag. With dozens of trips under her belt, Diane is an expert in minimalist camping, going lightweight, planning, and keeping her kids entertained without screens. Instead of stuffing my bulky old hand-me-down four-man Wal-Mart tent onto the bike, I decided I’d try something newer and smaller. I seriously considered a few different options before pulling the trigger here, and almost ended up with a small backpacking setup from The North Face.

There are some other differences, like that the CloudUp 2 uses seven clips instead of six, doesn’t have guylines attached to the tent body, and has 14 stakes instead of 11.

The stand-out feature of the 20D nylon fly is the PU 4000 coating that provides adequate protection from rain, snow, and other moisture.

Front vestibule: It makes the inner space larger, and personal hiking gear can also be placed in the front door area. The zippers haven’t broken, it isn’t leaking (and I haven’t resealed the seams) and the poles are fine. Despite this, condensation isn’t too bad of an issue in the tent because there is a sizable gap between the fly and inner tent. I’ve got the older version of the Cloud Up 2 though, so it might be slightly different with the upgraded version.
