The first coat may be thinned with White Spirit (1 part to 8 parts varnish), to act as a sealer when applying to absorbent surfaces. Clear, water-based, 2-component polyurethane topcoat for use on wood, concrete and pre-painted surfaces, also serves as an anti-graffiti coating. Thoroughly rub down all surfaces in the direction of the grain to provide a 'key', using 'wet flatting' methods where possible, then wipe off with a damp, lint free cloth.
