About this deal

This opinion may feel quite simplistic to more sophisticated musicians, but this indulgence is rarely expected from low-cost digital pianos. Because the P45 and CDP S100 are pretty similar in the two most essential aspects, either will work well for any (not too overly critical) musician, to be honest.

Again, this is probably a limitation of my own technical ability but I do notice it even at my level of skill. Yes, some seasoned players may long for a slightly firmer feel on the keys, but the fact of the matter is this piano is designed with beginners in mind, and the key action is perfect for the intended audience. Also, on the back panel, you'll find a USB out, which can be used to connect the piano to a laptop, which in turn transforms the S110 into a MIDI controller. To me, the PHA-4 just overall feels more realistic, including the key movement, the key pivot length, etc. While I found this app indispensable during my PX-S1000 review, I’m of a different stance with the CDP-S100. Now you can run the keyboard from the AC mains using the provided AC adapter, but 6 brand-new batteries should give you a full 10+ hours of battery life, which is no small feat considering the CDP-S100 has onboard speakers. On top of this, the Casio has slits right on top of the keys – additional speakers that add to the amplification. You’ll rarely need all 192 or 256 voices of polyphony at once, but there are cases when you can reach 64 or even 128 note limits, especially if you like to layer several sounds and create multi-track recordings.

In the unlikely event of receiving something faulty or damaged please contact us by phone to arrange course of action. If you are at all familiar with entry-level digital pianos , then you'll undoubtedly be aware of the Casio CDP range - which unsurprisingly stands for Compact Digital Piano . The low polyphony count isn’t that bad for beginners since most of the elementary pieces they will play won’t need a whole lot. You may wonder how it is possible to have 32, 64, or even 128 notes playing at the same time, if there are only 88 keys and we never play them all at once. Hi Fabio, indeed, the sound engines are different, and the default piano sound is different as well.

Speaking from a more technical standpoint, Scaled Hammer Action has a third sensor that adds resistance when you’re pressing on it. Useful features that help your learning thrive are included as standard, such as a sustain pedal and a built-in metronome. li>Compatible with AC Adaptor AD-A12150LW (Included).

Feel the graded key weighting as you play, with a heavier hammer-weight in the lower register and a lighter one in the highs, just like a traditional instrument. The CDP S100 is one of the most compact digital pianos, measuring just 9 inches wide (or deep) and almost 4 inches thick. Sound-wise, the PX-160 has a better sound, in my opinion – more detailed samples, wider dynamic range. The other sounds included are three electric pianos, harpsichord, strings, pipe organ and jazz organ. li>Includes power adapter, sustain pedal and music rest.As you'd expect, it's all the popular voices that are included here, from a grand piano - which has three modes - to harpsichord, strings, as well as pipe and jazz organ. However, certain features can also be applied to stage and gig use (though not without jumping through some hoops).

The piano action is described as ‘Scaled Hammer Action II’ and was very natural and comfortable for me, with the touch being firm and responsive enough to promote a solid piano technique. Key combinations may seem complicated, but they do make the front panel a lot less cluttered, which is understandable since there aren’t too many features requiring dedicated buttons. It feels so nice to have this little feature and would help you to build up the right muscle memory for if you were to play on a real acoustic – maybe in a piano exam. Interestingly, the piano can even be powered from just six AA batteries, which should allow about 13 hours of use – simply astonishing. Other new models include two ultra-compact 88-note digital pianos: the CDP-S350 and the CDP-S100, and I will be testing the latter, which also happens to be the most inexpensive in the range.Despite the fact that this is an entry-level model, the 88-note keyboard has simulated ebony and ivory textured keys that feel pleasing under the fingers and aren't too slippery. Many (professional players, I have to add) did complain that this makes the sensation artificial compared to the naturalness of the Graded Hammer Action on Yamahas. As a whole, it is incredibly useful and much more user-friendly than finding functions via keys on the key bed. Second and more importantly, the P45 has the duet or twin mode, which allows you to divide the keyboard into two 44-key pieces with the same octave.
