I found that I was looking forward to finishing the book so I could move onto something more gripping. Well, my loves, I so hope you’re all looking after yourselves and keeping safe with everything else’s that’s going on.But in amongst all that is happening in and around The Buckingham Hotel, the author also weaves the history and feeling of the time seamlessly into the mix. Although the character development was still strong, the ambience I felt previously didn’t exist this time and I felt slightly let down by it. The fig tree is there, too, when war breaks out, when the capital is reduced to ashes and rubble, when the teenagers vanish.
