Opening up Side Four with a song like “Ultraviolet (Light My Way)” is a final burst, allowing the song to stand out on its own — vs. Zooropa appears to be the same mix but is still a great album and I hope it gets its own edition when the time comes. In the meantime, the new 2LP vinyl edition of the album is being released on 19 November 2021 (this Friday!

The album is pressed on dark, well centered and quiet black vinyl which I’m assuming is a 180-grams thick. don't want to spoil it for those who haven't seen it but it is one of the best moments caught on tape of the birth of a song. What makes their early albums enjoyable now is that they don't sound like 80s albums -- they're pure rock and roll.One of these was The Smiths Complete – a gigantic box which contained eight CDs, 11 vinyl LPs and 25 seven-inch singles – and the other was the ‘über deluxe’ of U2’s 1991 album Achtung Baby. Produced by long time U2 collaborators, Daniel Lanois and Brian Eno with Steve Lillywhite, 'Achtung Baby' was engineered by Flood and led by The Fly, and also featured four other singles, 'Mysterious Ways', 'One', 'Even Better Than The Real Thing' and 'Who’s Gonna Ride Your Wild Horses'. Turn “Love Is Blindness” way up loud to get an idea of what I’m talking about… Raw guitar sounds can be beautiful if they are handled properly.

Another nice thing about hearing Achtung BABY on vinyl is that I can turn it up pretty loudly on my amp with out the music hurting my ears (which happens with some recordings, particularly poorly mastered digital ones).

Also used was a DAT — a 16-bit digital tape recording format — as well as a controller which enabled sync with emerging digital audio workstations like Pro Tools. So it stands to reason that the album is effectively a hybrid production (which is not necessarily a bad thing folks). The unreleased songs are "Blow Your House Down" a nice rocker, "Heaven and Hell", a moody song that seems to be Bono riffing with lyrics. Without a doubt, though, Brian Eno's production is the impetus for the album's astonishing sophistication and intricacy; he ably assists in creating the band's most passionate, cohesive and thriving collection of songs to date, geared towards the ravers, baggy rock fans as well as their core fanbase.
