Description

When you are ready to reblue your gun, the first thing to do is unload and disassemble your firearm. Further advice to people is, if they are only going to do a single firearm or two, just use salt water. This article includes a list of general references, but it lacks sufficient corresponding inline citations.

If you like to shoot, work on guns as a business or hobby, or just own a gun, this is the place for you! After the degreasing, flush or scrub the metal in very hot water to remove any residual chemicals and allow to cool thoroughly before applying the fist coat of solution with a clean swab, do not swamp it, merely moisten. In addition to its blueing capabilities, Ballistol Quick Blueing can be utilized for gun restoration and maintenance purposes. Bluing is most commonly used by gun manufacturers, gunsmiths, and gun owners to improve the cosmetic appearance of and provide a measure of corrosion resistance to their firearms. This is one of the reasons rust and fume bluing are generally more rust-resistant than other methods.Using cold water to remove all traces of detergent will take longer, while hot water will do the job faster and more thoroughly. Many double-barreled shotguns are soft soldered (lead) or silver brazed together and many of the parts are attached by that method also.

Read more about the condition New: A brand-new, unused, unopened and undamaged item in original retail packaging (where packaging is applicable).Rust bluing was developed between hot and cold bluing processes, and was originally used by gunsmiths in the 19th century to blue firearms prior to the development of hot bluing processes. I'm still using solution from the original bottle I bought five years ago, so the solution has a very good shelf life too.

Instead, hot blue your whole weapon and use cold-bluing to touch up scratches and small rust patches that may appear over time. This brushing is essential to the final high polished finish required for guns such as the Purdey's Holland and Hollands, etc.If cold bluing is the only practical option, the area should be kept oiled to extend the life of the coating as much as possible. As aluminium and polymers do not rust, they cannot be blued, and no corrosion protection is provided.
