So far this is the best setup I have found, with very repeatable results sharpening the same head after use. I don't think I was accurately measuring microbevel sharpness when I did that testing 6 or so months ago. I believe that the grit grades on these stones are ramped up to a point of not being true and correct. If your going to get the Metallic stones try a 2K as well and also the Gunny Juice,the 2K Metallic CBN refines the edge much better then one would think and if you take a gently with some finishing pass's with that stone the edge won't have many burr's at all if any.

The CBN stones are suitable for creating cutting bevels or grinding out nicks on knives, planes and chisels.TSProf Diamond Plates provide fast metal removal and can be used for the repair of damaged cutting edges. This set, consisting of 5 different grits, actually covers everything that needs to be sanded and when. I believe that there is not normally a "best" stone for sharpening tool steels, but more of an "it depends on what you want out of it" type of answer. Whether this matters or not, I don't know, all I can say for sure is, they get the job done but they aren't the aggressive cutters that I was expecting them to be based on other reviews that I read.

These have their pros/cons just like anything else, but are probably somewhat different from the resin-bonded ones. The broad, perfectly flat carbon steel embryo of this stone is coated with fast-cutting 400-mesh CBN on one side and finer 800-mesh CBN on the other. I haven't been a big fan of mixing media types when you don't have to, but in some cases like here, maybe it would get good results.You can use the 400-mesh side for flattening the back of chisel and plane blades and for general edge shaping and maintenance.
