Everyone is having a ball and it is probably the peak Vacation movie out of all the Chevy Chase vehicles. And i’ll be frank, this is a comedy series and not some franchise full of artful expression, so when the aesthetic changes its not really “off” its just a product of looking like a film from its era. The only options here are a previous audio commentary with Randy Quaid, Beverly D’Angelo, Johnny Galecki, and Miriam Flynn, director Jeremiah Chechik, and producer Matty Simmons that has been included on a number of past releases as well as an SD theatrical trailer. Looking at the film's opening moments during the title sequence, followed by the highway and Christmas tree scenes, the improvement in color depth and delineation is quite apparent.

National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation is one of my personal favorite holiday films and one of the best sequels you can find. I noticed that skin tones had a warm, natural aesthetic that I had not seen in the various video renderings of this movie.Firm color produces plentiful primaries, more than the usual Christmas reds and blues (those look stellar too though). The good news is that we’ve got this film in 4K with a better-looking picture than in the past (though the bar was set pretty high). This comes with the proper presentation of the 4K transfer done a few years back as well as a new 5.
