kind of, i mean take this scene away and the book is a lot more serious-ish but i think it added a good distraction away from the heavy topics.

Last year I read Devious Lies and in my review said it was one of my favorite books but than failed to put it at the top of my list. Her emotional scars will never heal in the way that she wants it to and existing feels like a burden most days. After walking in on him doing the deed and taking care of it, she expects him to give her an appointment.i know this is a romance novel but it literally felt like a movie/book scene, idc if i sound stupid saying that but their first kiss was so worth the wait and slow burn.

We then spend the book in his head telling himself he can’t be fucking his little brother’s love of his life, commenting on how sweet and innocent little Charlie is that he’s disgusted. Kellan Marchetti was a stranger she had found a piece of herself in: Two suicidal teens, troublesome sibling relationships, outcasts, painful/traumatic pasts.

I normally start my reviews with the tropes, but this book… it’s so much more then any trope you could catagorize it under. But there was something different about this book when I started reading the blurb for it and I realized that it was a gut feeling telling me that I NEEDED to read this story. While every person deals with trauma differently and it's not fair to make comparisons, I'm still arguing my case: the author did Charlotte so, so dirty in the book. I know that this is going down as one of my top favorite reads of 2021 and I’m so glad that I took this journey.
