About this deal

From rep in his early career, through the West End, comedy, drama, touring, you name it and he'd probably have tried it somewhere through the years. His delightful personality shines throughout his book and the 4 stars award is simply because I did get a little bogged down in the parts where he is discussing in general the ins and outs of show business.

The programme ended in 1969, and the character then appeared for a time in the Thames Television children's programme Magpie. As presenter of Radio 4's Today, the nation's most popular news programme, he is famed for his tough interviewing, his deep misgivings about authority in its many forms, and his passionate commitment to a variety of causes. In March 2008, he starred as Rincewind in Terry Pratchett's The Colour of Magic, and in the two part ITV drama Ghostboat. Upon leaving school, Jason wanted to be an actor, influenced by his brother, but their father advised that he first learn a trade.

Even the last page is all about their friendship – and I’m not ashamed to say it made me well up a little! For us, seeing him as Sir David, with his many BAFTA awards, it might be difficult to imagine that there was a time before Only Fools And Horses. Obviously, this book wouldn’t be able to get away without including the phenomenon that is Only Fools And Horses.

The no-holds-barred memoirs of a GP who went from working at a quiet suburban practice to treating the country's most dangerous criminals - first in young offenders' institutions, then at the notorious Wor. A Serving of Crime with a Difference - You May Just Discover Something Unique, Different, or Unusual in These 20 Crime Novels. Although he was thrust into the spotlight (reluctantly) in the school production, David showed dedication to a theatre group and pursued a career as an electrician before he got his big break. Jason appeared on stage in the West End in the farce No Sex Please, We're British playing Brian Runnicles for 18 months in 1973. In 1968, Jason was initially cast in the role of Lance Corporal Jones in the Jimmy Perry and David Croft BBC comedy Dad's Army. All started to improve when he wrote more about Porridge, Open All Hours , Fools and Horses, The Darling Buds of May and all his other television roles. However, it picked up thereafter and was very interesting to hear of David's exploits and antics in between acting and performing.

One of the best biographies out there from one of the most beloved characters on stage and on screen, and quite probably, same goes for his private life. It wasn't until 1981, kitted out with a sheepskin jacket, a flat cap, and a clapped-out Reliant Regal, that David found the part that would capture the nation's hearts: the beloved Derek `Del Boy' Trotter in Only Fools and Horses. His acting career has been long and varied: from his theatre work in the West End to providing voices for Mr Toad from The Wind in the Willows, Danger Mouse and The BFG; and from Open All Hours and The Darling Buds of May to his starring roles as Detective Inspector Frost in A Touch of Frost and, of course, Derek 'Del Boy' Trotter in Only Fools and Horses.Autobiographies can sometimes spend a long time talking about life 'pre-fame' without really giving any insight, but I felt this book grabbed my attention.

Jason appeared in variety shows as the supporting act of Dick Emery and his performances caught the attention of Ronnie Barker. These include Skullion in Porterhouse Blue (for Channel 4), Sidney "Pop" Larkin in the rural idyll The Darling Buds of May ( Yorkshire Television/ ITV), based on the H.David Jason was already a star when I first heard of him, but which character was most like the man himself.
