The above list only covers the list of visual tweaks (there would likely be a long list of audio tweaks too), but that aside, it's still an excellent presentation. The actual contents of both discs are identical, but the Limited Edition version was limited to 50,000 units and is usually more expensive to get, but does come in a Tin with a postcard sized replica of the UK Palace Pictures quad poster, and a 48 page booklet, while the standard version just comes with the postcard in a normal plastic DVD case. At about 17m 10s, you see a zooming close-up shot of the book of the dead, which then should cut to lightning striking a tree, then an exterior shot of the cabin at night, but the Elite version cuts straight from the book, to the shot of the cabin, leaving out the lightning.

The film itself is transferred from the US Anchor Bay 2010 Blu-Ray release, painstakingly re-edited and synced to a number of previously released commentary tracks. Since I can’t count how many times I’ve watched this movie and shown it to countless others, watching it today is enjoyable, but not as much as it was in the past. So already that's one reason to hang onto the older DVDs: the blu only has the new commentary, the Trilogy set has the two older ones. Indeed there are certainly several moments of gross-out horror, the like of which you would rarely expect to see in today's films.won’t have a problem, but us English Canadians must deal with the bilingual packaging which clutters up the artwork and the back side. This special edition with a transfer approved by Sam Raimi before he got “busy” with bigger projects has always served as my reference for the film. This is essentially the raw footage with clapboard and all and presented much like the 20 minute assembly on the Elite disc, but just with all new stuff.

Purest transfer: By that I mean the movie transfer closest to the original theatrical release, without any visual or audio tweaks or alterations. It had an all new transfer, the old extras once again carried over, plus a whole bunch of new stuff, finally giving this film the definitive special edition it deserves. It is also worth noting that this edition does not contain the short film Within The Woods as had previously been announced. The picture quality is very good in both video quality and sound, it is in English and has no subtitles. Even though some colours have a bit more pop than what is on the Elite disc, it’s not my preferred image. Trapped within the twisted, nightmarish corridors, the sisters must fight for their lives and find a way to close the portal before evil engulfs the world. There have been fewer issues of Evil Dead 2 in general, and we don't have the dual fullscreen/ widescreen thing going on (although Anchor Bay did once include an open matter version as a bonus on one of their old discs, possibly just out of habit). While as of writing, 4K is still moderately new, and the choice is pretty limited, this section will be expanded in the future.
