She has also presented other programmes, like Coast to Coast People, The Television Show and Magic Moments. She joined hands with the British television presenter, Phillip Schofield to host the famous television magazine show This Morning.

The 538-page tome centres on Marion Crawford, devoted governess to Princesses Elizabeth and Margaret (the current queen and her late sister) for 11 years from 1936 to 1947. Obviously you have to remember Fern’s version of events is only loosely based around fact but it is a convincing piece of storytelling especially in regard to the influential nature of the aforementioned Mr Buthlay. At Books2Door, we believe that reading is a fundamental skill that every child should have to help improve their vocabulary, grammar, and critical thinking skills. The series might take you on a rollercoaster of emotions or provide a steady companion on lazy Sunday afternoons. At the end of Fern Britton's "fictionalised" telling of Marion Crawford's story, I was left with a feeling of sadness for this good Scottish lady. Fern Britton anchored the Pride of Britain Awards in 2002 and was one among the panellists on the satirical panel show, Have I Got News for You. Giving free rein to her imagination, Fern Britton blends fact with fiction as she chronicles Crawford’s professional and personal life through years that encompass the Second World War, the abdication of the King and eventual marriage of Elizabeth to Prince Philip. In March 1998, her first book, Fern’s Family Favourites, was released and in October the following year, she launched her second book Winter Treats and Summer Delights. The sale of customised goods or perishable goods, sealed audio or video recordings, or software, which has been opened. My point was that I was sad that Prince Charles did not have the strength to say, ‘Boys, I want you to sit with me, you are my sons’. Marion, lovingly renamed Crawfie by her two Royal charges, never planned for this: a life looking after two privileged young girls. Fern is deeply committed to a number of charities, in particular those working with and for women, children and childbirth.

But as her career soars, Christie’s forced to spend more and more time away from her kids and from Richard – the gorgeous single dad she recently met at the school gate. This story is well-written, detailed, and fast-paced, and I am sorry I waited this close to it publication date to read it…especially in one sitting as I was so drawn into the story and the characters. Here, you'll discover not just the publication year, which is essential for understanding the context and evolution of the series, but also a succinct summary that teases the story without spoiling any surprises. The story follows Marion, soon given the nickname “Crawfie” as she is enveloped into the heart of the royal family.

The story sees Crawfie, as she was nicknamed, become a companion to the future queen and an important employee until she meets and falls in love with shady ex-army divorcee George Buthlay, 16 years her senior. As governess to the young princesses Lilibet and Margaret, Crawford held a very privileged position within the royal household for many years before her reputation as a dedicated and loyal employee fell by the wayside following her exposé of life behind the palace walls. This author, whether a rising star or a seasoned veteran, has crafted the pages that whisk readers away on this series' journey. We don’t know if the queen (the queen mother) might have possibly helped things along with the book and maybe the King said no and she had to quickly do a U-turn. I don’t want to give away too many of the twists and turns – that would ruin the reading enjoyment for you – but it’s definitely worth it.

Marion’s Crawford (known as Crawfie in the Royal household) sacrificed so much of her life for those she loved.I’m quite sure that was all carefully thought through and discussed, but it was just a shame that a father can’t have his sons together.
