I'll be honest here, I hadn't heard before that Freddie has an autobiography and the words his life in his own words picked my interest. We don’t share your credit card details with third-party sellers, and we don’t sell your information to others. Spurred on by their almost uncontrollable ambitious and forthright front man, Queen succeeded in becoming one of the biggest bands on the planet. I would never believe that a book would contain his actual words if it was filled with details of his sexlife or his private life. Funny, irreverent, poignant and never boring, this is the closest we'll ever come to an autobiography.

Although at times, some of the excerpts from interviews felt a bit redundant, you could get a sense of exactly what Freddie was feeling at the time he was speaking. A legend, that will live on, but one, who will never be able to put pen to paper and produce HIS auto-biography! I have no criticism for the words of Freddie Mercury himself, but the way this book was put together wasn't that cohesive and because it was taken from lots of different interviews, some parts of it were very repetitive. Queen in July 1985 rehearsing for Live Aid: Brian May and Freddie Mercury, with Roger Taylor and John Deacon behind. His quotes build up a peek for the reader into his life, however, he never once discusses his lover from 1984, Jim Hutton, who has sadly passed away.

Now, remember, this isn't like reading a biography on Freddie nor is it HIM telling us his life so far, talking about his illness etc. For example, something as simple as the band members' names and roles, or the Live Aid concert, or even the artists who played at the Freddie Mercury Tribute concert (which of course isn't mentioned because this is a "biography", meaning it represents events during Freddie's life, but I think the knowledge on events such as that one really complement the reading). It definitely took me out of the moment of reading to realize things like that, which I believe is more of an editing problem than anything else.Já não me lembro da última vez que desisti de um livro, e nunca pensei que fosse desistir de um livro sobre/com palavras do meu ídolo. I think that different parts of this book will impact different people, but will nonetheless keep Freddie Mercury prominent at the same time.

Certo, non è che se mi capita non legga articoli o guardi interviste, ma non sento la necessità impellente di sapere tutto lo scibile sull’artista X. The truth was that Freddie was painfully shy and uncomfortable in the company of anyone who might intrude upon his famous ‘royal family’ of close friends and invited guests. While the concept of bringing Freddie Mercury’s life to light with only his own words is lovely in theory, I do wish there had been more establishing facts. Freddie Mercury: A Life, In His Own Words" is the nearest thing to Freddie’s autobiography as it is possible to achieve. Freddie Mercury of Queen performs on stage at Groenoordhal, Leiden, Netherlands, 20th September 1984.He died of bronchopneumonia induced by HIV (AIDS) on 24 November 1991, only one day after publicly acknowledging he had the disease.
