About this deal

Yes, it *could* be done, but it's a real PITA to dumb the machine down so that it'll work with domestic threads.

Model DKS30 is probably one of the easiest to use machines ever and yet it’s packed full of great features. The one-step buttonhole integrated into the machine saves a fair amount of time, while the rugged cover that ships along with it helps in storing the machine without having to worry about any damage. Heavy duty aluminum frame and 18 stitches, including a one-step buttonhole give you the tools you need to handle any kind of sewing project. Main Features: 7-piece feed dog which can be dropped for free motion quilting Heavy-duty Aluminum Chassis Maximum Stitch Width: 6. The HD-3000 is a heavy duty machine, perfect for a beginner or sewist looking to do a wide range of sewing.

I have started making bags and it struggles with top stitching – I am only able to use quilting cotton otherwise it struggles with all the layers. And if we can't fix the computer in 4 or 5 years, we probably won't be able to find mechanical parts, either. It is only a cover which sits on the top of the machine and allows you to access the handle of the machine to move it around. The Even Feed Foot is also great for topstitching, which can be spoiled due to the irregularity of stitching. A handy instructional guide is located in the top tray door of the machine, which indicates the feet and stitch settings for a variety of sewing tasks. Standard straight stich and zig-zag covers about 90% of my work and three or so others for the rest. At your level of sewing however, it doesn’t matter where your bobbin goes, and the bernina is fabulous luxury machine!

Although you can sew through faux leather and other thin leather garments, you should avoid using Janome HD3000 for industrial grade leather. Keep in mind that anyone can view public collections - they may also appear in recommendations and other places. The bobbin winder is hit and miss, I think this is due again to the positioning of the spool laying on it's side. I've been using this machine for a few weeks now and although this is a workhorse it does have a few issues. For me, I sew primarily linen and cotton garments, linen and cotton toys, sometimes little house decor things and I do a little quilting BUT most important to mention, I sew almost daily.I have just purchased online from Hobbycraft the 4400 as I am a relative beginner (did some sewing in my late teens but now 74). Home machines are a couple of hundred bucks and up, so there's no reason to try making a heavyweight do the ballet. I chose the Janome HD-3000 over 10 years ago because it’s considered heavy duty (which is great for daily use) and does a pretty wide range of sewing. You can quickly switch from a straight stitch to a blind him without needing any screwdriver or special tool.

I like the idea of mechanical over computerized because that just sounds more fixable, but it wasn't the computer that went out on her singer. I would highly recommend this to anyone whether you are getting your first machine or needing a heavy duty machine. And in theory, that's what I want for her - - but I really can't tell what is "heavy duty" about the machines other than their metal frame/case. I’ve had a very good personal experience with the dealer i’ve linked too, but there are plenty of other dealers.
