About this deal

Amongst numerous other awards, she is twice winner of both the Carnegie Medal, Britain's most prestigious children's book award, and the Whitbread Award. I couldn’t believe what I was reading at times and I know it will possibly raise triggers for some readers in relation to family violence, abuse, death, drug abuse and manipulation of the vulnerable. I’ve always desired to practice mindfulness properly, framing the moment with complete concentration. In Keep It In The Family John Marrs explores maladjusted relationships at their most extreme in a fast paced and compelling plot that left my head reeling. But just when they think the house is ready, Mia discovers a shocking message scored into a skirting board: I WILL SAVE THEM FROM THE ATTIC . Every time you think all the twists have been revealed and you have it all figured out he will pull the rug from under you and turn the world upside down. I’m also certain that given the right amount of time I would have polished Keep It in the Family off in just one hit.In this thrilling novel from bestselling author John Marrs, a young couple's house hides terrible secrets-and not all of them are confined to the past. A story of nature versus nurture, trauma, dark secrets, family inheritance and the past, Keep It in the Family is a mind-blowing chiller.

All of that said, I thought Keep It In The Family was absolutely brilliant and I can’t recommend it highly enough. It’s a house you’d never really notice but for the young couple this house is a promise of a better future. Deliciously dark, marvellously menacing and totally twisted, I am slightly terrified of John Marrs after reading this; though I would love to peek inside his mind to know how he came up with what is his darkest book yet. I’ve been a big fan of Marrs’ books since I first read The One upon its release in 2017, and with every book he just gets better.Dark, twisty and pulsing with 'no let up' tension, Keep it In The Family will have you guessing until the very end - and likely checking out your own attic just to be sure.

Haunted by the terrible things she saw and desperate to find answers, her obsession pulls her ever further from her husband. She is prepared to do anything to protect her family―but will the previous tenants stop her from discovering their secret? Keep It in the Family is told from the viewpoints of five different narrators, including the unknown killer of this murder filled tale. What’s so unnerving is that Keep It In The Family explores really positive themes like love, loyalty, the desire to protect the innocent, and, obviously, family relationships, but this is no joyous, uplifting read. The bestselling author of What Lies Between Us presents his most shocking and delirious thriller yet with Keep It in the Family.

I know I came up with a mixture of both of wild theories and plausible ideas as this book revealed itself to me. It’s a reminder of how evil walks among us and how the scariest things are those that can happen in real life, not in horror films. In 2021, his speculative novel The One was adapted into a 10-episode drama series for Netflix by Misfits creator Howard Overman, and his seventh novel What Lies Between Us has been optioned by Renee Zellweger’s production company at MGM TV. Alluding to something sinister being connected to their new home, Mia and Finn are compelled to investigate.
