About this deal

Still a bit stiff but should last a few more years - I will be spraying it regulalry from now onwards! Most purchases from business sellers are protected by the Consumer Contract Regulations 2013 which give you the right to cancel the purchase within 14 days after the day you receive the item. Once the series of holes are created (recommend a hexagonal shape around the screw) then remove the centre plastic piece. The catch would occasionally jam but would release eventually, however one time it jammed completely with the catch released so I could not lock down the bonnet, it just kept bouncing up and down on the manual release, very annoying.

However, I do live in the worst place for cars in the UK - they salt roads for well over 6 months of the year up here.

However, (so stupidly in my opinion), VW have not made this hole large enough to completely remove the bolt! The two T20 screws here and remove them from the car {yellow}, these are the screws just next to the headlights in this picture and then once they are removed from the car squeeze in the two plastic clips {red} can do one at a time and then remove the grill from the car. Was trying to fight around with the mechanism and I ended up breaking the bonnet latch cable plastic guide I know for Fuc* Sake -_- Any ways.

The unit appears to be sealed together so it can't be dismantled, the only thing you can do is clean out the crap and regrease. It wasn't too difficult to do and fixed the issue Leveraging the unit out using a screwdriver through the VW badge was the hardest bit. Once the brake cleaner has been used, apply grease generously throughout the lock and springs, making sure you get in every nook and cranny. The site and services are provided "as is" with no warranty or representations by JustAnswer regarding the qualifications of Experts.I had to drill a series of small holes around the 3rd and final Torx screw located within the black plastic in the front grill. I can get the front VW badge off - no probs there - but all I can see is two very stiff hex bolts at 10 and 2 o'clock. With my MOT looming on my car, I didn't want to run the risk of my cars bonnet lock failing the MOT. It’s best to release the tension on the release handle for the bonnet lock before you start the assembly.

It was still pretty tight to open with the handle once I fitted the new bracket and used the handle to open the bonent rather than the claw of the hammer. Come join the discussion about performance, modifications, classifieds, troubleshooting, maintenance, and more for the Golf, Bora, Jetta, Touran, and Scirocco! I thought this may have been more due to not refitting the lock correctly but I didn’t want to take any chances.I had initially soaked it with WD/penetrating spray but that didn't work for me either so I ended up removing the catch.

Warranty Coverage: In case a purchased product becomes faulty during its warranty period, for reasons unrelated to your acts, omissions or misuse of the goods, you must promptly notify us and fill out a warranty claim form. Once I had got the bonnet free of the catch body, its a case of releasing the electric cable from its run back towards the drivers headlight. Please remember it can take some time for your bank or credit card company to process and post the refund.Hi, I know this has been mentioned before, but even so I can't find the answers I need and I'm DESPO! If the bonnet opens and closes fine, then your OK, just reconnect the alarm wire then simply put the screws back in. I can get the handle off and can take the panel off to get at the cable but the dial/wheel seems to be attached to a box - do I need to replace this entire box? Most of our engine parts are provided to us by German brands such as Elring (OEM), Beru, Pierburg, Meyle and Topran Hans Pries.
