I was in a weird funk reading-wise in the past weeks, so I have to at least give props to Off the Deep End's easy readability for successfully getting me out of it, but it's definitely nowhere close to a thriller I would recommend. began to deny this relationship, even more damaging news came out, ultimately forcing him to resign as president of Liberty University, which many consider to be the largest evangelical Christian university in the world. While I don’t think I really loved how everything ended up playing out, it was still a solid read and I can’t wait to explore more from her! When young reporter, Finn, is assigned to cover the comeback of Olympic-hopeful, Wes, he’s less than thrilled. That was because he had sent her a weird message that had threats that she knew what he was planning (unaliving himself) and she wanted to stop him.

Isaac said he was feeling sick ( he now says he wasn't actually sick and knew he never should have switched seats but did it anyways) and he also wore his seatbelt and Gabe did not because Jules, unbuckled his. In this moving novel, Berry creates a beautifully crafted study of secrets and grief among a tight-knit group of friends and of how far a mother will go to discover the truth and protect her children. Events seemed to be ripped from psychological case studies and inserted here and there for their shock value.

I was gifted this book by Thomas and Mercer and NetGalley and was under no obligation to provide a review. WOW - let me tell you I was pretty excited that my Goodreads buddy GirlWithThePinkSkiMask alerted me to this latest book from Lucinda Berry. All too soon after (mostly) living through an unimaginable trauma, a pair of Minnesota families are plunged into an even darker nightmare. The book is from both of their POVs and I wish it took on a third character instead, maybe it wouldn't grind my teeth so much. If the author is doing it, it has to be done very well to be authentic, and it wasn’t done well here.

And when Isaac goes missing, his parents wonder if it was because of a serial killer snatching boys off da skreets or because of Jules going off the deep end. Giancarlo Granda is now ready to share the story of his years on an "only in America" rollercoaster ride through the monied corridors of power and profound hypocrisy. Cons: wanted to fight both of the adults, did not give a single fuck if Isaac turned up dead or alive, the ending was so random.Finn Anderson is a young, fresh out of school journalist plucked from covering community news and thrust into being Wes Cooper’s shadow.

I think the characters didn’t have enough time together that made me really understand their deep feelings for each other. I saw this book recommended on here and decided to give it a go based on the plot, but I was maybe to chapter two when I decided to dnf it. That is normally something I enjoy, but halfway through this book, Jules’ character took a turn that was not authentic to the story. We are experiencing delays with deliveries to many countries, but in most cases local services have now resumed.Isaac goes missing soon after and the investigators think its a serial killer who has been taking young boys. Thank you to Thomas and Mercer, NetGalley and the Author for an advanced copy in exchange for my VERY honest opinion. It was kind of just expected and a bit meh and all a bit too over the place to create any real suspense. Isaac's mom goes on and on about how Issac was bullied and had targets on the bullied kids backs but "they didn't deserve to die no matter what" and Nancy Grace and others deem the accident Isaac was in as the tipping point of him going "Off The Deep End" lol see what i did there?
