It would be quite possible in my opinion to make a suitable mount by 3-D printing for those that don't have a metal mill handy. Good" because that might contribute to it not being necessary to recalibrate the device each time you fit it to the flash shoe.

New: A brand-new, unused, unopened and undamaged item in original retail packaging (where packaging . Put the camera on a tripod, select the smallest focussing point you can and then focus on a subject at least 50 metres away.I can easily spot a bird with my eyes or binoculars, but have a hard time getting the location in the EVF for two reasons; the narrower FOV and the change in how things look. To be fair Jeff, and very respectfully (as you are undoubtedly talented) a flock of birds is fairly easy without a dot slight, It's when you are tracking a single fast moving bird moving across the sky and you have a second or so to not only find it but to lock focus as well. Depends on focal lengths too of course: At 100mm you could really have it shoot where-ever that's somewhat center, but at 300mm you'll want it to be fairly accurate especially if your subject fills your frame.

The epoxy was smoothed with a wetted finger, carefully sanded and cleaned, then painted with semi-matte model paint. I have managed to get a tight fit on the rx10 hotshoe, by the simple means of a thin piece of card cut to the shape of the hotshoe cover. So, I saw a thread about the EE-1 here a few days ago and as interested I was to try a red dot sight out for birding at 300mm, at around 120€ it was just too expensive. Method - use pin-point auto focus - track the subject with the red dot and rely on the GX9 (wash my mouth out ) AF to get it right. with the EE-1 dot sight, I could follow up the devil bird 90% of the time and the camera was able to finally lock in time and take the shot. When using mine with the camera in portrait orientation I've sometimes been able to see the dot with one eye and the focus point on the camera screen with the other but I haven't really played around with it. Unfortunately there must be other factors at play as when I line up the dots- it was not in fact calibrated for whatever reason.

The advantage of using the EE-1 when shooting is that you can keep your camera further away from your eyes and keep track of what is going on around your subject. For sports from a suitably long distance I suppose it could work even better since there you can generally judge the distance better and need less adjustment on the fly.Parallax is more important at short camera-to-subject distances, and at large distances between the sight and the optical axis of the lens. It folds down to about twice the size of the mini electronic flash included with all high-end Olympus cameras, and uses a cheap CR2032 battery that lasts quite a long time. They mention that it needs careful calibration, the small calibration thumbwheels are difficult to turn, and the site needs aligning or calibrating before use to match its performance to your lens. Forget the single AF point because it would require your composition to be more precise and for you to keep an eye on the LCD/EVF constantly to make sure the AF point was on the subject.
