In Morpho: Hands and feet, artist and teacher Michel Lauricella presents a unique approach to learning to draw the human body. Geared toward artists of all levels, from beginners through professionals, this handy, pocket-sized book will help spark your imagination and creativity. I draw as often as possible and nothing beats a real life model, but this is a good book for practising and working out where various muscles etc go. The seller states in the listing that they normally post within 5 business days however it was 16 days before this item was posted from the warehouse. In this book, Lauricella focuses exclusively on the hands and feet--arguably the most popular and, to some, the most difficult shapes of the body to draw successfully.Geared toward artists of all levels--from beginners through professionals--this handy, pocket-sized book will help spark your imagination and creativity. Still, now that I’ve received the larger ones, I can see I’m going to need the smaller ones in my library. It focuses on the bone structures and muscles that create body shapes throughout various rages of motion. Rather than going the traditional route of memorizing a repertoire of poses, Lauricella instead stresses learning this small collection of forms, which can then be combined and shaped into the more complex and varied forms and postures we see in the living body. In 1943, after being asked by his daughter why she couldn’t immediately see the photograph he had just taken, American inventor and scientist Edwin H. There is not a lot of text with discussion of attachment points or range of motion or joint descriptions; rather it is full of well executed drawings that allow an artist to understand the structure of the human body AND offer a master class in line drawing. Geared toward artists of all levels—from beginners through professionals—this handy, pocket-sized book will help spark your imagination and creativity.

Over a year ago I purchased the highly recommended “Atlas of Human Anatomy for the Artist” by Peck and was severely disappointed. The difference is in this book there's more breakdown into the different parts of the body, muscles, bone structure and how the different parts work together. An “illuminating” (Daily Mail, London) exploration of the second generation of the iconic Bloomsbury Group who inspired their elders to new heights of creativity and passion while also pushing the boundaries of sexual freedom and gender norms in 1920s England. This isn’t a how-to-draw book, but it explains anatomical reasoning like how an ear is leveled to a jawbone or how long an arm should be from the kneecap. In more than 1,000 illustrations, the human body is shown from a new perspective—from bone structure to musculature, from anatomical detail to the body in motion. Nearly a century before Mondrian made geometrical red, yellow, and blue lines famous, 19th-century mathematician Oliver Byrne employed the color scheme for his 1847 edition of Euclid's mathematical and geometric treatise Elements.

This book is good for learning the internal structures and how they bend and fold but it's not an art instruction book. In this book, Lauricella focuses exclusively on the hands and feet--arguably the most popular and, for many, the most challenging parts of the body to draw successfully. The artist shows some bigger body types toward the end, which is a pleasant surprise from most art books. In this book, Michel Lauricella presents both his artistic and systematic methods for drawing the human body--with drawing techniques from the ecorche (showing the musculature underneath the skin) to sketches of models in action. And they broke it apart by sections of the body, so it's even easier to just pick it up and look for the one specific anatomy you need. This has a lot of drawings of muscles in action at different angles for different positions of limbs and body parts.
