Description

A morning glory is a beautiful flower, delicate-like. Blue, just like your eyes. But the thing about a morning glory? The thing about a morning glory is if you let it, it will totally take over your crops, because it's not just a flower. It's also a weed, totally invasive. Stronger than it looks."

I've wanted you for so long. So long. Every waking minute, in my dreams, too. I want to bury myself in you, drown in you, and never come up for air. I want you to be mine, and only mine... You trust me, right?" Archer is truly a damaged hero. His handicap is legitimate – he can’t speak because his vocal chords were irreparably damaged when he was a child. The trauma that he witnessed along with the ostracism he suffered through the majority of his developmental years combine to inflict real emotional problems for this man. From the New York Timesbestselling author of Archer’s Voice, Mia Sheridan delivers a heartwrenching new standalone contemporary romance. I started this book without reading the blurb so I spent a little bit of time in the beginning trying to figure out what sub genre this book fell under- fantasy, dystopia, paranormal, etc. But rest assured it is not any of those genres and had I actually read the blurb I would have figured that out.So much passion. And so much hurt. But it's only in Archer's silence that we might just find what we need to heal . . . and live. When I came upon your book, I had spent several weeks reading dark books with quite a few anti heroes and your sweet, tender romance was quite refreshing. I had no idea what I was in for when I started the book as I hadn’t read you before. His smile… his smile lit up my world, even from afar. He was perfect. And I loved him. I loved him desperately. There is a place in today's America with no electricity, no plumbing, and no modern conveniences. In this place, there is no room for dreams, no space for self-expression, and no tolerance for ambition. As Bree gets to know Archer, she discovers that he is nothing like the man others in the town believe him to be. It takes her a while to get past his initial coldness, but once she does, she finds a strength in him that helps her begin to heal. However, Archer’s fear of abandonment is crippling, and Bree fears that he’ll never be able to trust anyone or allow himself to feel love again.

This is the story of two people whose love for each other was so strong that it gave them the power to fight for the life they wanted and the freedom to choose how to live it, to walk away from the teachings they'd grown up with and to find the courage to try build lives of their own even if their future was unknown. Ramsay is the story of betrayal and wrath, of the strength of regret and the power of forgiveness. It is the story of the thin veil between love and hate, and how more often than not, when we seek to inflict pain on others, the heart we wound is our own. Sadly, Hector is insane and believes his prophecies and does everything in his power to break Calder and Eden while securing his spot in his believed after life. I hate HECTOR!! What drags the grade of the book down for me was the transformation of Archer from a bearded loner to the character he becomes at the end. It was too fantastical for me and not in keeping with the rest of the story. The ending drama was overstated as well. I wanted to lose myself in the small town of Pelion, Maine. To forget everything I had left behind. The sound of rain. The blood. The coldness of a gun against my skin. For six months, each breath has been a reminder that I survived–and my dad didn't. I'm almost safe again. But the moment I meet Archer Hale, my entire world tilts on its axis . . . and never rights itself again. In a secluded community isolated by choice from the rest of the world, Calder's people live a life without modern conveniences based on pure faith in their gods and true devotion to their leader. Selfish desires are seen as sinful and free choice is not even a consideration. But the teachings instilled in them from childhood make them live this life willingly and believe that what they're doing will lead them to paradise. What if -the forecast goes against their aspirations ... will their own personal desires take precedence over others?
