house. At the end of the book the family move abroad for Charlie's work and never return to live in the cottage.

The nearest town is Egremont (2 miles) where there are shops and garage facilities. The historical west coast town of Whitehaven is 15 minutes away. It has a lovely marina and beautiful Georgian old town. The book below kept appearing up on my "recommended for you list", it sounded intriguing and I knew who I could pass it on to after reading. A magnificent stone Welsh longhouse that sleeps up tofive people, this cottage offers total peace and tranquillity with scenic rural surroundings.Saturday pm and more rugby on TV, I also wrote a bit for the Suffolk Smallholders Newsletter to see if anyone has any tree seedlings or saplings that they don't want. We are life members of the Society because of all the work we did running it many years ago so have been getting the newsletter even though we'd left the smallholding. I'm quite keen to get involved with the society again ..............will see how I feel when the AGM comes round in September. The beamed lounge area has wood burner, comfortable seating for six people ,TV and DVD player and views to the garden from the patio doors, The dining area has table and chairs for six people. There are lots of books at the cottage that you are welcome to read during your stay. When I wrote this in my Book of Books Read I discovered that I'd read one of hers before, a long time ago.... "The Honours Board". I might have a look at some of this authors other titles. Also "The Expert" by Bernard Knight. One of the seven of his old crime fiction books reprinted from the 1960s. This one was actually readable compared to some of the others. The cottage has been recently renovated to provide light and airy contemporary and comfortable living. The side entrance door leads into the large open-plan living, dining and kitchen area. The large double patio doors leading out onto the garden and sitting out area.

The Expert by Bernard Knight is another of the 7 old books of his that have been re-published, some were OK but others dreadful. I've read Angela Thirkell's "Peace Breaks Out" set at the end of the war in the fictional county of Barsetshire and re-read one of the others - "Pomfret Towers". Easy light reading for dull February. Typical! was my thought on Monday morning when I felt the en-suite radiator and found it stone cold, that was after I'd looked out of the bedroom window and seen the ice on the car windscreen. I pulled on some clothes, coat and hat and went to the garage to look at the boiler - yep - low pressure light was on and, Thank Heavens, that's the one boiler problem I've learned how to solve in my 2½ years here. Published 2019). In 1955 a young English civil engineer working on a new Hydro Electric facility, finds an emptyLocated on a 220-acre farm, this stunning stone-built Welsh longhouse provides idyllic holiday accommodation for five guests. Set in a remote, tranquil, and beautiful part of the Brecon Beacons National Park, this spacious, traditional, and tastefully decorated cottage makes a fantastic holiday base for families and couples. Retaining many original features including slate flooring, oak beams, and an inglenook fireplace, this is a perfect base for walkers, climbers, and nature lovers. The cottage is surrounded by organic farmland, with streams, pools, and woodland to explore, with chances to spot red kites, buzzards, deer and Welsh ponies. Premier shops are small convenience shops often at petrol stations and small shopping precincts on estates. I've only ever been in our local one once as they are very expensive, but sometimes they have bargains. Friday and off to visit our youngest daughter and our little Grandaughter. She is certainly growing nicely.

While I can admire the neatness of the grass verge, that is a week in week out job that benefit no-one or nature. The garden spilling out is lovely and if she lets the more native and natural plants take over it will revert to being a wildflower patch as she loses the urge or the ability to maintain it in the future, so no harm done and beauty and activity enjoyed.

The cottage is situated on a quiet lane nearby to the village of Haile; holiday cottages in this area are about 15 minutes' drive from the Ennerdale Valley (one of the most picturesque parts of the Lake District). This renovated barn conversion sleeps six people. The cottage has been sympathetically modernised to include contemporary features such as chrome radiators, large patio doors and a wood burner. It provides a lovely light and airy property with open plan beamed living space and a contemporary kitchen area. There are large french windows out to a patio seating area and a south-east facing garden - ideal for breakfast on a sunny summer's morning or a glass of wine in the evening. book we get to know some of the people who live in the village and the members of the battery from the Major and

Now we don't know when exchange and completion will happen......... maybe next week? What I want to know is if the boiler fails it's service will we then have to wait while they re-negotiate? We were trying to be helpful by letting her choose completion date, now I'm getting just a tad annoyed. Welcome to Felicity, LJL and Cherie who are new followers and thank you everyone for comments on posts last week and to Briony who said she loved the blog, plus W at MidSuffolkMeadow who reminded me of another good charity shop that I will be visiting frequently once we move.

Sorry I didn't reply to all comments yesterday. I think the rain affected the wifi connection as everything went slow. A staircase leads off from the dining area to the first-floor bedrooms. The master double bedroom has an en-suite shower room and the further double bedroom has double doors opening out onto the Juliet balcony looking out to the garden. There is a further twin room and family bathroom with bath and electric shower over. Wainwright's famous Coast to Coast walk passes close by and there are several lovely walks in the peaceful little known Calder Valley nearby. Your little 'wild' stretch which although to some would seem to messy, will be home and food for hundreds of little undisturbed creatures. They always have this smoked and un-smoked. I would prefer smoked but that gives Col indigestion. It varies each time with different sorts of ham and you have to watch the use-by date. Sometimes it's only 2 days ahead rather than 6 days which is more useful.
