Description

Like other members of the Old One's Army, the Dark Mage is immune to Teleporters and lava and will take half damage from traps.

The book is said to contain various parts. Of its many dark contents, the book contains various ways of summoning demons and using them for your bidding safely. It even describes specific magical items that are needed to keep the demons at bay, lest the legion take over you. There are also chapters on making bargains with demons, however, the book warns the reader that this will always come at some great cost. I want to like these books more than I do, but it's simply Feehan's writing style that bugs the hell out of me. The characters and story-lines are a bit repetitive, but that's ok, it is paranormal romance after all. But her descriptions never change, and she uses them over and over again in the same book, in all the books I've read so far.

Obviously I'm a fan of romance, but I'm also a big horror novel fan and know Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Supernatural canon to a frankly disturbing extent. So, this appeals to me on several levels.

New combat spells and utility spells have been added to the spellbook, most of which require completion of A Kingdom Divided to cast. You are my world, ma petite, my very existence. You are what makes living bearable. You are my light, the very air I breathe." His mouth brushed her pulse, her earlobe. "You are not meant to walk in death. You never were." "If you walk in death, Gregori, then that is where you will find me. Right beside you. I belong where you are. I am your lifemate. There is no other. I am your lifemate." -Gregori and Savannah I love you, Gregori," she whispered softly against his throat. "I really love you. The real you. Do you understand?"-Savannah The night was alive with the heartbeats of countless people. He walked among them, unseen, undetected, moving with the fluid grace of a jungle predator. Their scents were strong in his nostrils. Cloying perfume. Sweat. Shampoos. Soaps. Alcohol. Drugs. AIDS. The sweet, insidious smell of blood. There were so many in this city. Cattle. Sheep. Prey. The city was the perfect hunting ground.Again, Feehan's storytelling seduced me. She does tend to use the same phrases a lot. Another Goodreads friend aptly coined them 'Feehanisms.' She is so right. Despite that, I can't get enough of her writing. The Carpathians take the vampire story in a different direction that utterly compelling and unforgettable. I was so glad to read Gregori's story after meeting him in Dark Desire. The good news is I get introduced to even more yummy, intense men in these books. Gregori The Dark One is a legend, the most powerful healer and the most ruthless warrior.Gregori was one of the ancients and a true wild Carpathian male with a code of honor and a iron will stronger than a mountain. He had been living a isolated life for centuries holding out for the hope of finding his lifemate and he had been so dead inside that nothing could bring an ounce of feeling in him.In the eyes of others a heartless demon and a monster and sentenced to a lonely existence if it weren`t for Savannah. This man brought tears to my eyes and his shattering pain was so raw that my heart broke so many times.Like Savannah i also thought "Who could possibly live year after year in such an empty void and survive with his soul intact?".His love for Savannah was larger than life and the world and while he always knew they belonged together he always feared for her safety and that someone would take her away from him.His magnificent and passionate way of loving Savannah brought tears to my eyes,i am so happy he finally got his happy ending. Gregory is very controlling and very old. Savannah is very naive and very young. But somehow they fit like the two sides of the same coin. Offering spells convert up to three sets of remains to prayer points, granting three times the normal experience of burying or scattering remains. They take the same amount of time as offering three remains at an altar in a player-owned house chapel. The Bestiary entry for the Dark Mage: " A small, levitating sorcerer from Etheria who wields dark magic and can even raise fresh minions for the Old One's Army."

He will refuse to give the player a small pouch if they already have a colossal pouch, citing that using too many at the same time may cause "dimensional turmoil". From the swamp tour I took a few months ago I learned that, yes people used to stuff their furniture and mattresses with the moss that grows on the trees. However that was about a hundred years ago and they stopped doing it because they never could get all the bugs out and their beds would always be full of biting insects. I really doubt the fellow in the book is that old. When he answers an intriguing advertiseme*nt in the newspaper, James couldn t possibly have known that it would thrust him into the middle of a quest that will test the limits of his intelligence and courage. To be fair, Raistlin’s apprentice Dalamar is not one of my favorite Dragonlance characters. And I’ve long since soured on prequels.

While all Carpathian males are controlling and overbearing, Gregori takes the prize. Okay, I'm addicted to this world despite all the repetition in the writing and overuse of phrases. I think part of it is the actually interesting world-building that's going on. A lot of paranormal romance doesn't bother much with that. It's ALL about the romance/sex and the surrounding myths and supporting rules of the world are skimmed over. This is heavily skewed toward the romance, but there is also world building as well.
