Ritual and Celebration: Green Witches often celebrate the Wheel of the Year, which includes the eight Sabbats that mark the changing seasons. Their rituals might involve giving thanks to the Earth, celebrating the harvest, or honoring the spirits of nature. Sustainability and Eco-Friendliness Picture yourself shopping and being given the choice between a plastic or a reusable bag. You’d instinctively choose the latter, not just for convenience but out of genuine concern for Mother Earth. Green Witches often lead the way in eco-friendly and sustainable practices. While other paths might value and respect nature, Green Witchcraft often goes a step further in actively advocating for the Earth’s well-being, integrating eco-conscious decisions into daily life and magical practices. Men in this town learn their lesson young when it comes to Waverley women,” Lester said, reaching for the cane he’d rested against the tree. He slowly stood. “Whenever there’s one around, sit up and pay attention.” Garden Spells" is the story of Claire and Sydney Waverley, two estranged sisters in Bascom, North Carolina. Claire is a gifted caterer who knows how to create special dishes, and she is surprised when Sydney and her daughter, Bay, suddenly show up on her doorstep needing a place to stay. Sydney's arrival stirs up some drama among her former friends, and Claire is finally forced to deal with some old family issues.

Reddit: Subreddits like r/GreenWitch and r/Witchcraft often contain discussions and resources related to Green Witchcraft. What I learned from this book is...if an apple tree throws its apples at you, for goodness sake, pay attention already! Rub it in with your hands. Enjoy the scent of romance as you anticipate a new relationship or improve the one you are in on its way to you. Envision your altar, free from single-use plastics or unsustainable tools. As a Green Witch, you aim for a zero-waste or low-waste practice. This could mean using reusable cloth bags for herbs, composting plant remains, or sourcing second-hand ritual tools. Every little action contributes to reducing your ecological footprint.Enchanting and heartfelt, this captivating novel is sure to cast a spell with a style all its own…. There are two things, though, that could’ve been better - the romance and the ending. I found the romance a tad too cheesy for my taste, but that's just me I guess. Not your fault book, I just have a low tolerance for romance nowadays. Another is the predictable ending. Bay Waverley, Sydney's five-year-old daughter. Bay has a dream of being in Claire's garden long before she actually sees it.

A prominent theme in Garden Spells is the effect of Claire’s catering dishes on her clients. Do you have a favorite “go to” recipe when you have guests over? Envision yourself transported to a lush forest or a serene beach, all within the confines of your city apartment. Through guided meditations or visualization exercises, you can journey to any natural setting, drawing on its energies and wisdom. It’s a reminder that nature’s essence is accessible no matter where you are physically. When Claire explains to Tyler what must have happened, he tells her that he ate an apple and didn't run off screaming into the night. All he saw was Claire in her garden. Flexibility and Individualism Lastly, imagine you’ve been given a blank canvas and a palette of colors. Other forms of witchcraft might provide an outline or set of practices to follow, but as a Green Witch, your canvas is shaped by personal experiences in nature. While there are traditions and practices passed down, much of Green Witchcraft is adaptable, allowing you to integrate personal experiences, local ecosystems, and individual revelations. How can someone get started with Green Witchcraft? Remember the surprise of stumbling upon a patch of wildflowers on a city sidewalk or discovering an apple tree in a forgotten corner of a parking lot? The city is full of wild plants if you know where to look. Urban foraging, with respect and knowledge, can yield unexpected treasures for your Green Witch practice. Picture your living room transformed into a green oasis with potted plants, hanging baskets, and perhaps a terrarium. Indoor plants like pothos, snake plants, or spider plants not only beautify your space but also purify the air and bring in nature’s vibrancy. Caring for them can be a daily ritual, a way of honoring the green world even within walls. Herbalism: Many Green Witches study and practice herbalism, using plants for medicinal, magical, and spiritual purposes. They might create herbal remedies, teas, tinctures, oils, and other concoctions.

Practical Magic had undertones of darkness and spices, mystery and tragedy. Garden Spells instead makes magic beautifully mundane...a part of these women's everyday life, and just as difficult but worth dealing with than the marital problems of Emma and her husband. Lastly, remember that every journey is personal and unique. It’s okay to make mistakes, change directions, or take things slow. What’s vital is your intention and the genuine desire to connect with the Earth and her myriad wonders. What are some essential tools or items for a Green Witch’s altar or practice? While I didn't enjoy "First Frost" as much, I was content to spend this time in the Waverley's garden.

Foundation in Nature Imagine strolling through a dense forest, where every rustling leaf and chirping bird seems to speak to you. This deep reverence for and connection to the Earth is the cornerstone of Green Witchcraft. Unlike other forms of witchcraft that might prioritize deities, celestial events, or man-made symbols, a Green Witch’s practice is rooted primarily in nature. While other witches might use tools forged from metals or other materials, you, as a Green Witch, might prefer a wand made from a fallen branch or an altar cloth dyed with plant-based colors. Perfectly sums up the way I feel about Garden Spells. Fun and easy to read, this novel thawed my ice box of a heart with its quirky main and secondary characters, scrumptious dishes made from flowers I haven’t heard of before, postcard worthy setting, poignant rendering of forgiveness and acceptance, with just the right touch of magic realism.Generations of Waverly women protect and look over this rascal of an apple tree with a wild little soul that loves this family and throws apples at random to have its say in there lives. If eaten it reveals secret visions of the most memorable moment that takes place in an eaters life. You just never know what the apple's hidden secret well make known, good or bad so DON'T EAT THE APPLES!! I couldn't help but think of Adam and Eve a little with the whole apple idea. The ending to this was great, and so sweet, and I was so glad that everything worked out okay for these girls! Really looking forward to reading book 2 now.
