Another woman, Leah, felt rejected and unloved, and God listened and gave her sons ( Genesis 29:30-35).September –Soul Survivor Watford released THIS statement about the findings of the investigation. They say they are “deeply sorry to all those people who have been victims of spiritual, emotional and psychological abuse, physical wrestling and massage under Mike’s leadership. There has been a systematic pattern of coercive and controlling behaviour. We are saddened that these behaviours happened in a context that should have provided safety and spiritual support. We are committed to learning lessons from what has happened and to put in place further practices and procedures that will seek to ensure this kind of behaviour does not happen in the future.” They also announced they have commissioned an independent review to be led by Fiona Scolding KC. September –I posted THIS guest blog from Phil Duncalfe about the relationship between New Frontiers and Mike Pilavachi. Because of the power of the patriarchal system on which the Church has been built, with its subtle (and not-so-subtle) messaging about the lesser value of women in relation to men – especially men in leadership – and about how survivors should behave, about how they should forgive without harming the Church’s reputation, and so on and so forth… If Threesixty Consultants Limited was launched with the authority of Hope For Justice’s Board, why was it incorporated and dissolved by Rob Allen, and not by the organisation themselves? And why was it not dissolved until 7 months after Hope For Justice resigned their position?

September –The Watford Observer published THIS article stating that a “Herts Police spokesperson has confirmed there is no criminal investigation [into Mike Pilavachi] at present”. As always, there are questions that arise.Particularly in relation to the Hope For Justice statement: Male and female he created them, and he blessed them and named them Man when they were created.” —Genesis 5:2 2. God cares about the hearts of women. The Bible makes it clear that at the very beginning of the human race both women and men were created by God, and He stamped His image equally upon them both,” Billy Graham once said. August –Probably unrelated to Soul Survivor, but within the same evangelical charismatic circles, Pioneer Trust state HERE that they have launched an independent investigation into their late foudner Gerald Coates’ behaviour.While God created man first, He realized it wasn’t good for man to be alone. Even though man and woman were created distinctly different, God made sure to create both in His likeness—and instructed them both to rule the earth ( Genesis 1:28). April – Soul Survivor Watford publish a new statement (available HERE) saying that “anything that needs to come into the light must come into the light.” I respond to their new statement with THIS blog on 20th April. No stones were thrown because we all sin, and there was no condemnation from Jesus, only forgiveness. God promises, “ If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness” ( 1 John 1:9). Our sins are separated from us as far as the east is from the west ( Psalm 103:12).

Following His resurrection, Jesus first appeared to Mary Magdalene before any of His disciples. He had previously freed her from severe satanic bondage ( John 20:10-18). 5. September –South West London Vineyard’s sermon was about Mike Pilavachi and spiritual abuse. The sermon can be found HERE and a transcription of some of it can be found HERE. I have kept silent for years. No one has explicitly forced me not to speak, yet I have felt compelled to keep silence. Jesus would be a feminist because He emphasizes the importance of a woman’s life and how a woman should be able to make her own decisions. Sadly, a great deal of people associated God with the culture of the Old Testament rather than associating Him with His true nature.

Only two of the eight New Frontiers’ spheres do not seem to have had Mike Pilavachi speak at their events; Advance Movement and Regions Beyond. Another time in Scripture, Jesus pointed out the widow who gave two small copper coins in the temple treasury’s offering—all she had to give—when He could’ve easily made note of the rich people’s large donations.April –The Telegraph publish their first article about the situation HERE with vague details of Mike Pilavachi having taken part in “inappropriate massages” and having “inappropriate intimate relationships” with young people believed to be linked to the Soul61intern scheme. May –A webinar I’d organised (advertised HERE) took place to provide a safe space for discussions about some of the responses people may have had to the situation. I posted THIS Guest Blog from Tony Brooks responding to Pete Greig’s perspective that this is the time to focus on good leaders, rather than raising issues of abuse. Simon answered, “I suppose the one for whom he canceled the larger debt.” Jesus commended him for speaking truthfully. Then he turned to the woman and described her actions. She washed His feet with her tears while Simon had failed to provide a servant to wash His feet with water. Simon didn’t kiss Jesus, but the woman hadn’t stopped kissing His feet. Simon didn’t put oil on Jesus’ head, but the woman put expensive perfume on His feet.
