About this deal

Let’s face it, breakfast tends to be the most rushed and least inspired meal of the day (mainly due to most of us being time-poor and over-tired). In fact, according to a recent YouGov study, fewer than half (49 per cent) of us actually eat breakfast seven days a week – with 13 per cent skipping it every day. The message with children always has to be: “Do your best. If you can’t do it perfectly, have a try.” Don’t judge yourself. Don’t compare yourself. Nothing brings you more into the moment than freezing water

Bring to the boil, then take the pan off the heat and stir in the mustard powder, parmesan and chopped parsley. Season with salt and pepper. I’ve never been overweight. I was a skinny child who loved PE and sport. I used exercise as a coping mechanism… Filled with swaps to cater to all tastes and ideas for involving the kids when you’re cooking, this flexible cookbook will soon become your family favourite. He’s won legions of fans with his philosophy 'eat more, exercise less', and even more new followers with his live PE lessons, but did you know he also does cookbooks? I used to think if I tried drugs, I’d become an addict. It frightened me. I suppose I am addicted to social media… and to helping people. I’m very purpose-driven and get a buzz out of that. I’m obsessed with doing more content, more videos, going to other countries. It’s an uplifting story about a bear family who go on a wonderful day out in the woods. It’s about getting active and having fun (and getting caught in the rain)…

Weekday breakfasts can be a bit of a myth when you've snoozed your alarm and have a Zoom call in ten minutes. The Workout Badges will be available on The Body Coach TV YouTube channel and on the YouTube Kids app, starting 22 September Whilst not all of the recipes appeal to me, a large percentage do. I’d say there’s something for everyone. There are plenty of recipes in different sections: speedy suppers, bung it in the oven, on the hob, big batch cooking, meat free, cooking with kids, celebrations and a number of ‘Cook’s Tips’. I don’t have any children [yet] but I’d still eat pretty much everything in here [the book]. Meanwhile, make the cashew cream. Place the cashews into a bowl, cover them with boiling water and leave to sit for 30 minutes, then drain, discarding the water. Tip the cashews into a blender and blitz until smooth. Keep to one side until needed. Whilst it's good to get the children involved in food preparation and cooking from a young age and this book sets out to do this, it's not quite as family-friendly as I'd hoped it could be. Like I said at the beginning the ingredients are too adult, though I do think my family would enjoy the Super-simple Rosemary Lamb Stew.I had a really unhealthy diet. My mum had me at 19 and didn’t know how to cook. Junk food was all she knew. She used to go to Iceland where there were lots of buy-one-get-one-free offers. I got into cooking at university. I’m still very greedy. I love chocolate and ice-cream. I eat way more than any average person, but because I exercise five to six days a week I get away with it. It's got some delicious recipes which I am excited to try but it definitely loses points on being accessible and on being a cookbook I'll refer to frequently.

After one hour, when you are happy that the lamb is tender, stir in the cauliflower florets and lentils, and add a little more water if necessary. Simmer the curry uncovered for 25 minutes, or until the cauliflower is tender. Each recipe is specially designed to please every family member, leaving you all feeling healthy, happy and satisfied.

With 100 healthy, tasty, simple recipes to feed the whole family, this book is sure to provide new favourite go-to meals for speedy suppers, celebrations and everything in between. Each recipe is specially designed to please every family member, leaving you all feeling healthy, happy and satisfied. Most of the recipes have a colour photograph to accompany them. The recipes use metric measurements and come with easy-to-follow instructions. Included for each recipe is the preparation time, cooking time, and how many it serves (mostly for 2 adults and 2 small children). Some of the other recipes are able to be frozen too alongside those included in the Big batch section. The questions I get asked most often by my followers is: 'How can I stay lean and still go out, go to a party, hang out with friends?' So I’ve developed over 100 recipes that prove you can eat delicious food, impress your mates and stay lean at the same time".

Joe says: "This is one of those meals that is well worth the wait. It tastes incredible and everything gets thrown in the same tray." I became successful because my workouts were 20 minutes long and my recipes 15 minutes. I wanted to show people that they can lead a healthy life with minimal effort. Going out on my motorbike (a Triumph Bobber). Or taking the kids to Richmond Park or Virginia Water Lake. My garden is a little sanctuary. I’ve got an ice machine, a metal bath I fill from the hose and then I throw in lots of ice. I’ll lie in there for four or five minutes and it’s amazing. Nothing brings you more into the moment than freezing water.

More in Books

I found I wanted to try only about half of the recipes listed either because they were not to my taste (if you love fish and beetroot you are on to a winner as they are featured frequently) or because I anticipated having difficulty getting some of the ingredients - banana shallots and carvolo nero for example. I also wanted more context to some of the dishes - what is a shakshuka and what culture is it from? I used to, but now I think more about the mental health crisis. I used to focus on physical transformation – leanness, body shape. But during the pandemic I realised that it’s with mental health that people need help and motivation. Without a healthy mindset and the energy you get from exercise, life feels a lot harder. If you look at exercise from a mental health perspective, the body will follow. As the proud dad of two kids, Joe understands the realities of life as a busy parent. Sometimes you’re short of time, and it’s hard to come up with a balanced meal when you have a thousand things to think about! This book does the hard work for you, so cooking and sharing nutritious food can become a social, fun activity for your family. I love being playful. Exercise doesn’t have to be serious. But it was very tiring making the series because of Covid. I had to film with each child separately because of social distancing rules.
