About this deal

I have heard of Soundmagic during my early days about their bullet styled IEM. Then I kinda stopped hearing from them until recently Caliya from Soundmagic approached me asking if I am interested to review some of their products. Despite this, the mid-range is not overly recessed and there’s an open, forward-sounding quality to the SoundMagic HP151 that delivers just enough detail to leave you smiling. They’re not quite as eager, perhaps, as the Sony MDR-1A, but I prefer the character of the HP151 overall. Finally, the highs provide a detailed sparkle that isn’t too rolled off at the top end. Cymbals sound natural and songs such as Calvin Harris’ “Slide” are toe-tappingly fun to listen to. Amazing Stereo Hi-Fi Sound: 40mm high quality dynamic drivers deliver you superior Hi-Fi sound quality with large soundstage and high resolution. Support APTX HD, high quality music transmission, let you hear every detail of your favorite songs. Also perfect for gaming with accurate bass response and crystal clear treble. It is ideal for audio lovers and gamers. Most of the entry level Bluetooth headphones I have reviewed so far featured a consumer friendly "V" shaped tuning with the only exception being the Sennheiser HD250BT. Overall, the P23BT has surprisingly well-controlled lows. Having heard other SoundMAGIC products in the past, they surely focus on the low end most of the times, but they seem to have gone a different route here.

The headphone is made out of plastic, which keeps its weight light and also comfortable during long session The headphones come with an auxiliary cable that includes a microphone. That means if you’re into online gaming or online conference calls, you can be confident your voice will come through loud and clear. Mids stay clear and unaffected from any mid - bass cloudiness, voices sound quite realistic with the right timbre and good articulation, vocalists seated somewhere in the middle of the stage , not too front nor stepped behind. I haven’t experienced any particular issue with the connection walking through London and using them on transport, although I haven’t used the headphones for any calls. I’ll be updating the review as and when I get the chance to do so. Sound Quality The sound quality is similar to the WH-CH520 on-ears in that it takes on a smooth and bassy tone. Bass is punchy, the midrange is clear and detailed, and the upper frequencies and bright and clear enough to have some impact. The Final UX300 offer a more insightful performance (at least with its noise-cancelling off), but they aren’t as affordable as the Sony headphones, nor do they boast as many features for day-to-day use either.I was also surprised by the isolation here. With the volume on an almost unbearable 50%, there is only a faint sound coming from these when off the head at just 1-foot away. With them on the head, it’s even less. Perfect for those starting to commute again. Here we review the new SoundMAGIC P23BT, an on-ear model which are compact in size and lightweight too. They will fit well over a wide range of head sizes due to a good amount of adjustment in the arms and the clamping force is just enough to provide a secure fit without inducing any discomfort. All the above impressions apply to listening with the cable but the good part is that switching to Bluetooth with the aptX HD enabled is equally competitive. These is on-ear design, which comes with a few inescapable issues. One that we experienced is the headphones can pinch around the ear, resulting in a little bit of discomfort after prolonged use. Another is that the noise from the outside world leaks through, but some may actually awareness of what’s around them. With every on-ear there are benefits and disadvantages to the design, and SoundMagic hasn’t solved the weaker aspects. Any interest in these headphones will likely depend on your patience, especially where comfort is considered.

The performance remains mostly unaffected and only the treble is losing in quality, becoming coarse, thinner and slightly more forward, otherwise this is one of the best sounding budget Bluetooth headphones I have used so far and it gets pretty loud too. Although built primarily from plastic, the P23BT feel pretty strong. They’re very lightweight and consist mainly of a spring steel headband and earcups. There’s some silicone padding on the underside of the headband to disperse and relieve pressure on the top of your head. Sub bass rumble can definitely be felt, also the mid bass thump is pretty much very present but not to the point where it’s distracting The SoundMAGIC P23BT don’t dazzle straight out of the box. They are small, plastic and lightweight. Most of those things usually mean the end result is another cheap and cheerful e-tailer special. Look beneath the functional design and things start to look up. Comfort is good, with the right amount of clamp to provide a secure yet comfortable fit I had no issues with the P23BT during longer listening sessions. The earpads are soft and provide ample cushioning, the headband has minimal padding but due to their weight this didn’t seem to cause any issues for me. Features

I have never tested a SoundMAGIC product till now that didn't sound at least good for the asking price and the P23BT is no exception. The headphone was run for about 80 hours prior to listening evaluation which besides the Bluetooth mode was also performed with the SoundMAGIC A30 and ddHiFi TC35B Pro.

Super Stable Connection: Equipped with Qualcomm Chip QCC3034, Bluetooth 5.0, more stable transmission, lower power consumption, more stable signal, making the wireless connection faster and stronger. Anyways, use P23BT in Bluetooth, just use it wired when its low in battery or you need to use that lovely mic built into the wire. They don’t have ANC, instead rely on passive isolation, which is good enough for most daily use. These work wired too and come with a high quality boom mic attached to the analogue cable – this is a brilliant feature that makes them perfect for home office use too. We found that making sure there is no microphone boosting in the windows sound settings worked the best in terms of voice quality – but once set up the quality is excellent for video and voice calls when connected to a PC. These really are very versatile, and the boom mic is not something you see very often when it comes to this kind of product. The microphone provides clear conversations and can also be used to activate commands using a voice assistant. Bluetooth 5.0 provides robust connectivity that can stream high-quality audio from Android or Apple devices without dropping out over a range of around 13 meters. I was really having a tough time running down the battery, connected via AAC and playing music at 50% volume, looping it 8 hours a day, from Monday to Friday, I am left with 25% still at Friday night. It’s really amazing (Do note that YMMV, as different codec might consume more/less battery life, also the volume) They blend quite well with the instruments in a very satisfying and cohesive way and the same goes for the higher pitched members of the orchestra that sound sparkling and agile. The pads are okay but it feels cheap and feels like it will easily chirp as time passes by, fortunately the pads can be replaced which is a plus. Up to 60 Hrs & Wired Mode:400mAh large capacity lithium battery, low power circuit design, only 1h charge can provide about 60h of wireless music experience. The P23BT headphone can be used as a wired game headset by replacing with the supplied microphone cable. The game experience is as good as the professional game headset.
