About this deal

The Pathfinder kill team performs better when its operatives are working together for the Greater Good, and so a lot of the tips for the Veteran Guardsman kill team will also apply here. Pathfinders are still T’au though, with a very strong preference for ranged warfare, so here are some ways you can ensure they always fight on their terms.

In other words, an efficient Pathfinder Team helps its fellow Fire Warrior teams operate at their peak efficiency. This concept of working for the Greater Good ( Tau'va in the T'au Lexicon) at the expense of personal glory is the guiding light of all T'au activity. Their embodiment of this basic philosophy makes Pathfinders highly popular with their fellow T'au warriors and earns them enormous respect in T'au society. Dry brushing is also another technique I use heavily for painting yellow. The approach allows me to start with a darker brown or neutral color and bring the yellow midtones in without streaking (e.g., where the paint shows brush strokes). For this kind of work, I use cosmetic brushes that work great as effective and inexpensive dry brushes. Comic book style miniature painting! Grants a free Dash action to friendly operatives close to a killzone edge if they don’t finish the Dash close to your own killzone edge. Take CoverAllows units within 6″ of a charged unit to fire overwatch as if they were the target of the charge, at the cost of not being able to fire overwatch again that turn. Once per battle, friendly operatives close to your Leader can benefit from the Art of War ability he triggered in the previous Turning Point (if he did so). Tactical Ploys A Worthy Cause Mission actions are specific to the mission you are playing, and will be detailed by that mission’s briefing. Missions can be found here (Open Play mission) and here (Spec Ops Narrative missions). Their light armour and intense reconnaissance training comes in handy for rapid movement around the battlefield. Pathfinders are able to surge around the flanks of their foes and even deftly retreat from enemies who’ve got a little too close for comfort.

This is your Leader, so you have to bring him in your Kill Team, but he’s also a decent fighter with a 3+ Ballistic Skill and a Bonding Knife that’s actually not a terrible melee weapon, which is a big deal in a Pathfinder Kill Team. He is also responsible for declaring Arts of War (see above), and has the Holographic Readout ability which lets him give a nearby non-Drone friendly operative a -1 to Action Point cost for performing a mission action once per battle. Shas’la Pathfinder (12 allowed per Kill Team) Recon Sweep allows you to Dash around the edges of the killzone, fantastic for getting early ground and setting up crossfires on the enemy. The Tau army is highly specialized, with each element normally having a specific task in support of the rest of the force. Fire Warrior teams make up the line troops while forward scouts known as Pathfinders scout enemy positions and provide fire support with Rail Rifles and markerlight target designators. The Tau also deploy Broadside Battlesuits and Crisis Battlesuits in supporting roles, providin In the wrong context, however, green is an ugly color. I tend to suggest avoiding highly saturated green color schemes with equal parts red. The clashed of green and red is awful if overdone.

Free actions can only be performed when another rule specifies. Each time an operative would perform a free action, the following rules apply.

Similar to what we’ve seen for other team updates, Pathfinder teams get some new ploys and some returning ones. Strategic Ploys Tau ground warfare is carried out almost exclusively by the Fire caste, while the Air caste is responsible for aerial and space combat, and providing transport between systems. The basic Fire Caste military unit is known as a Cadre, or Kau'ui [12], similar in size and role to an Imperial Guard Company, and is primarily made up of Tau from the same sept. [15]Be careful with matching your green tones and hues with any common tabletop scenery. This may look odd when you place your models on the table, if shapes and forms blend with the surroundings. Of course, if you’re doing this intentionally, by all means consider a good camo scheme and add a splash of opposing color to keep things from looking too flat. An Armour-Piercing single target grenade that causes mortal wounds on critical hits. Photon Grenade As an edge highlight, I like using yellow mixed with my main green color. For a less saturated paint scheme, I have also used beige and neutral gray as a highlight for painting green armor and weaponry on my Tau models. The Tau wield some of the most advanced weaponry in the 40k Universe. This doesn’t mean it bodes well for them. Tau are often outnumbered, and rely on alien sub-race allies to help them in the fight, e.g., Kroot, Vespids. Use these other models to add some flair and organic grotesqueness in your Tau army collection.
