I received an advance copy to read and review from St. Martin’s Press via NetGalley. The Perfect Daughter is now available, and there’s a good chance you’ll enjoy it more than I did. But would one of her alters be capable? Would Eve, the most aggressive and openly hostile, have committed such an atrocious act? How long can Jen keep this up? How long could you live with what you did and the decision you made? As the mysterious texts continue, Jennifer wonders if she made the right decision. Certainly it's too late to own up now but as her life begins to erode piece by piece, she wonders is there anything she can salvage from the dire situation in which she finds herself before it's too late?

In between Adam's voice and her mother's, Jess couldn't hear her own in the cacophony. Did she even have a voice? And was she good enough to be heard? Soon, Jess began to wonder if the freedom she gained from her mother's clutches wasn't being replaced by Adam's? Had she simply moved on from being manipulated by her mother to being manipulated by Adam? Or is she just imagining it all?

Her words came out with a sharp edge as her grip on the doorframe tightened. She felt like she’d slipped out of her own body and was observing these events from some higher vantage point. Part of her wanted to slam the door in the detective’s face, imagining that doing so might make it all untrue, but she resisted the irrational urge.

Nevertheless, Penny is very forthcoming, and her defense team believes there may be proof that she did not commit the murder. Once the trial begins, everything comes to light, and no one will be prepared for what happens when Penny is put on the stand. It’s evidence,” Allio said as explanation. “It takes time for us to collect the samples we need before we can let her get cleaned up.” The filmmakers may push too far the determinism in the horror of the daughter, who believes that she may be repeating the sins of her mother. The action culminates in a heartfelt conversation at the Pink Motel, where father and daughter renew their close ties. This is a compelling "human interest" story with a well-conceived cast of characters. As said, constant manipulations were depressive to read. I skim read it as I didn’t want a thriller to bring me down.Grace doesn’t want to believe her daughter can commit such a brutal crime and actually her daughter Penny is long gone, her body is invaded by her alter persona Eve who has no idea why she’s at the police station. When I requested this book on Netgalley, the plot sounded very intriguing, which it was but I personally enjoyed only the last 15 to 16 chapters. To me the story progressed in these last chapters. The initial part of the book was too repetitive and slow paced. I know what you did. Now you’re going to do something for me.” Everyone’s worst nightmare come true.

The story also serves as a perfect reminder as to the dangers of using your mobile phone when driving. It's an offence to do so and yet so many people still do it. Why? And Jennifer certainly was old enough to know better. Like me, she grew up in an era before they were a customary accessory so why even glance at her phone whilst driving in the dark with no street lights in the pouring rain? Your concentration is even more paramount in such circumstances and such a drop in that concentration - even for one second, or two in Jennifer's case - can be deadly...for you and anyone else.Manipulations by the mother was dealt with extensively, so some sections felt to be a downer. I had to scream at Jess to break free and run away. I have continued reading his work though, because I could see that glimmer of greatness just under the surface. I feel like, with The Perfect Daughter, he finally broke through that barricade (for me, at least). I see that many of my friends felt differently, but for me, this story worked on nearly every level.

Think about your own personal life, as well as the relationship you share with family, including parents. What aspects could be made more comfortable, productive, or enjoyable? Below are exercises in mindfulness that can help you be a better daughter: You don't have to buy anything extravagant, but it's nice to give them something from time to time. You're an adult with a salary, after all.Wow, Usually, it's not difficult to guess the ending of a thriller with all sorts of hints in the chapters, This one was a complete surprise and exciting like finally reaching the top of a gigantic mountain and at last being able to breathe with ease. The blurb for this book is extensive and worth reading. The book opens with Penny’s mother, Grace, coming home to an empty house. Her husband Arthur, has passed away, her two sons are away at work and school and the family car is missing. She doesn’t know where Penny has gone and is just beginning to worry when the police arrive at her house. Penny has been arrested for a brutal murder. Overall, the book was good, just not great. I will continue to read Kerry's books, because he is a talented writer, and his books are always entertaining! I would like to thank #KerryWilkinson, #NetGalley and #Bookouture for an ARC of #ThePerfectDaughter in exchange for an honest review.
