Description

This precipitates an epic journey that sees the snail and the whale in icy seas, observing mountains and golden sands on the shore, under the sea admiring the sea-life, surviving a thunderstorm and avoiding pleasure seekers in a holiday resort. I love this Snail and The Whale sensory bin from Growing Book By Book especially the little whale toy to play with. The Snail and the Whale is a heart-warming story about how friendship can come about in the most remarkable way.

The snail the whale meet loads of different animals during their travels and we’ve got some printables which are perfect for some of those that they come into with including this free penguin template and this free shark template. Enhance your literacy centers with these captivating story sequencing cards. Get ready for a hands-on and enjoyable learning experience! Imagine that you had to write a newspaper report about the people (and the snail) who saved the whale. What would it say? The human activity makes the humans swim too close to the shore. Can you find out when this might have happened to real whales in the past? Discuss what we might be able to do to stop it from happening again. Story sequencing is like putting together a puzzle, but instead of pieces, we’ve got events from a story. It’s all about figuring out what happens first, next, and last in the story. It’s just like when we tell the kids to first wash their hands, then sit at the table, and finally start eating.

When complete, have the children retell the story aloud to a friend or family member. This is a great way to assess their comprehension skills. The Snail and the Whale Activities One of my television songs, A SQUASH AND A SQUEEZE, was made into a book in 1993, with illustrations by the wonderful Axel Scheffler. It was great to hold the book in my hand without it vanishing in the air the way the songs did. This prompted me to unearth some plays I’d written for a school reading group, and since then I’ve had 20 plays published. Most children love acting and it’s a tremendous way to improve their reading. The audiobook with an accompanying audio cassette, is narrated by English voice actor Imelda Staunton, while the audiobook with an accompanying compact disc is narrated by Scottish voice actor David Tennant. WHAT'S THE PROBLEM? Not only could creatures like whales, dolphins and seals in the Irish Sea be harmed, but everything down to tiny shellfish and even plankton could be impacted. Effects from blasting, can cause deafness to marine life and impair ability to navigate and find food. The Irish Sea is a Marine Protected Zone because of its wealth of biodiversity and vulnerable species.

This book is such a great read with it’s tale of an amazing adventure for the whale and a tiny snail as they travel across the ocean and around the world. It also has gorgeous illustrations by Alex Scheffler and a great use of rhyme telling the story that always keeps kids captivated.Story sequencing is perfect for building important early learning skills with your preschool and kindergarten kiddos.
