Effects and amp sims are sweet. Looper and rythm are nice addition even if I don't really care for them as of right now. Craft your signature sound with more than 60 traditional and boutique effects, such as octaver, bass synth and fuzz. The Zoom B1 Four is a game-changer for bass players, combining affordability, ease of use, and a wealth of features that elevate your playing to new heights. A lot effects end up cutting some of the bass frequencies rather than adding to them (which is why clean blend is such a "thing"). The key concern for me would be some of the filter and synth effects - and it's not going to be low frequencies that are the main issue there (particularly if you have already stripped these with an HPF at the start of your chain) but signal spikes. If you want to protect your cabs against unwanted signal spikes then a limiter sim is what you need at the end of the patches. For customers in outlying areas of the country, the price of the Extended Warranty may be marginally higher, due to the potential for higher collection and redelivery transport costs.

Be able to edit with Guitar Lab / no doubt the excellent Tone Lib software will be adapted for this very shortly also too. As @Chienmortbb said above " It is a PITA to programme any digital multi effects unit from the knobs and buttons on the front." Completely agree, particularly the MS-60B in my experience. Anyway, if you got one laying around, it can be powered via B-type micro usb cable (smartphone charge cable) or an usual 9v dc lead. The B1on is a great bit of kit. As with all the digital multi effects units I have had or tried, it can be noisy at extreme settings . My only real gripe with it is that you have to go into a patch or effect to change volume or EQ.

Zoom B1 FOUR Bass Multi-Effects Pedal Overview

I've fallen in love with the B1 Four because it allows me to create and save my own patches effortlessly. The user-friendly interface makes it a breeze to dial in the perfect settings for any song or style. I have a collection of go-to patches that I rely on, ensuring I always have the right sound for every occasion. Classic Amps Recreate your on-stage sound with 9 classic amps and cabinets like Fender, Ampeg, Aguilar and more.

In your case you are cutting some of the fundamental notes on the B string which are already not going to be particularly easy to hear, given the combination of our hearing range attenuation and speaker frequency response which for most cabs will also be seeing some fall off in ability deliver low end. The low B is 31 Hz so you will be cutting the fundamental on that by approx 12dB. Not sure whether this was the intention? Tbf it's what a lot of sound engineers do and most of what we hear is at the first fundamental of the B string and above, anyway, which is 60Hz and not being touched by your HPF. I guess it's for the same reason that 4 string players might set their HPFs to start cutting at 80Hz i.e. just below the first fundamental of the low E string (low E fundamental = 41Hz). It's got the DSP of the B3n, rather than the older chips present in the previous generation B3 and MS-60B (and I assume the B1on too?)

Beyond the Bass-ics

Lay down a bassline up to 30 seconds, and then endlessly overdub your performance to build a dynamic, multi-part arrangement. You may, of course, want to use two HPFs in the chain to have an effective twin HPF set-up in the way @jrixn1 described above - but that would be a general approach rather than specifically to deal with low frequencies created by effects. I got my son the Guitar version a while afterwards and he wanted the bass one as well, so we got another. Ive used it ever since. I really only use one amp/cab set up, I don’t use the effects as such, but i do use the pitch shifter for learning songs in other keys (not a great tone, but good enough for me to learn with). I know the B3n is still better, but not better enough for me to give up the portability. I wish i had kept my old B3 now.... The B1 FOUR/B1X FOUR can operate with four AA batteries. You can also use an optional Zoom AD-16 AC adapter or run your pedal via USB busb power.

If you have any B1-4 patches you would like to share then please post and I'll also upload them here (not sure I can access your B1-4X or B3N patches to physically upload here - but I can certainly provide a link to your post, for ease of reference).

The built-in looper functionality is a game-changer for bass players. It empowers you to layer your bass lines, create intricate arrangements, and explore your musical creativity. Whether you're practicing, composing, or performing live, the looper opens up a world of possibilities and takes your playing to the next level. Al Krow Saved both your Glam Comp settings and your Free Bman patch to my B3n. I shall be trying out the HPF in front of my patches too. Any thoughts on putting the HPF at the end of the chain to cut out an low frequencies created by the effects? Effects not the greatest but for bass and amp modeling and with over drives this blows the HX stomp out of the water as far as sound and ease of finding good solid bass tones. latest chip set, same as the B3N => up to 5 effects per patch (vs 4 on the MS-60B); and you can set to use a patch as a bank of 5 individual effects which is very neat Shelf = abrupt cut off of everything below the 'shelf' level (in my case 30 Hz) i.e. a 'cliff edge' cut off. Useful if you're only using to get rid of low end 'crud' (Edit: but based on our discussion below the HPF mode would seem to be better option for this).

significantly easier to use interface. The MS-60B used to do my head in before the advent of patch editing software; but the ToneLib PC editing software is free, easy to use and makes creating and editing patches a doddle on all Zoom pedals and has levelled the playing field on that score. The Four seems to have that covered as all four controls are analogue (OK they may be rotary encoders rather than analogue pots, but they are physical knobs). Recreate your on-stage sound with 9 classic amps and cabinets like Fender, Ampeg, Aguilar and more*. That being said, yes ofcourse, you will most likely NEVER get sounds that you will get from Darkglass or something along that line. However, if you actually spend some time (A LOT of time) with it, you will get very competitive tones out of this pedal. EQ section is definitely pretty solid, but more specialized effects such as phaser or distortion is.. okay.. ish....
