Obviously you can add more during the day which will enhance the smell for longer. Ultimately though, you need that scent to hang around for a minimum of 3 hours. I had used it before but never thought of putting it to my 5 factor testing so I decided to give it a go. Although the Brisk beard oil aims as a commodity in drugstores on beard newbies, it also convinces experienced beard oil users. One must admit to the Brisk beard oil, that despite its supermarket and drugstore focus it abandons on commodity-typical ingredients such as silicones, PEGs or parabens. It wasn’t the best on the skin but it certainly wasn’t the worst and overall it did the basic job it needed to do. Value For Money.

The soft feeling did fade away in the early afternoon but I was out in the sun for a couple of hours. This can affect the performance of some oils, especially the mid range ones. Skin. Remember it’s not just the most expensive ones that are necessarily the best. The most important thing is that the product works for your hair and skin. Like the hair on top of your head, beards - and the skin underneath - need the right oils to stay lush and healthy. While your body produces some, most beard owners benefit from a dedicated oil. Not only will it help straighten and soften your beard, it moisturises to stop itching and dandruff from your chin, aka ‘beardruff’. It can even help if you have patchy growth.

Brisk is known in Germany for only one product: for the popular Brisk hair dressing, the only German hair dressing still being produced since 1951. Now come under the Brisk flag two new trendy products on the market: The “Brisk beard oil” and the “Brisk beard shampoo”. Both are manufactured in the UK, where the Brisk beard oil is being presented in a Mr.Bear Familly look. In Germany the beard oil remains faithful to the usual design and the brown glass bottle decorated with a tattoed bearded man on a red Brisk label. My beard felt soft and smooth which almost made up for the staying power. It soaked in nicely and when spread really covered the beard well. If you are looking for something to fit within a limited budget then you could do worse. The scent is nice and it makes your beard feel soft. The major downside is its staying power but the price does make up for this though. As I applied it to my beard and moustache it bizarrely reminded me of pancake day. You know when you squeeze the lemon over the pancake. I like it when an oil reminds me of something, it makes it more personal.

The oil didn’t make my skin feel greasy so it did it’s job there. However, I didn’t feel that it really benefited my skin as it didn’t feel as soft in this area. I could tell it wasn’t going to irritate the skin and this is a good sign. So the Brisk Bart oil pleases with an unusually mild, woody fragrance and a mineral oil-free formula of six nourishing, essential oils, among others avocado, tea tree and cedar oil. This is where it lets itself down. I was out for about an hour walking and pottering in the garden and the scent had all but disappeared. The citrusy fragrance hit me straight away and was pleasant. I do like a citrus oil and this did not disappoint. So, I went about applying it to my beard. Let’s look at the 5 factors I use. Scent. Beard oils come in various different varieties by combining different oils such as jojoba, argan and eucalyptus. Some are scent free if that bothers you or your skin.I actually had a couple of oils but I chose to go with the Citrus as it was unopened so would represent the brand better. I prefer a scent that lasts into the afternoon but this one barely made it past breakfast! Such a shame considering how nice the initial scent was.
