Description

Magnus the Red is the 41st Millenium’s premiere big scarlet-skinned chap, at least until his very angry brother turns up. Joining him are 23 of his sons – 20 dusty Rubric Marines and three Exalted Sorcerers living their best arcane life. Battleforce: Death Guard – Council of The Death Lord Warhammer Quest: Cursed City is a co-operative board game that you can play solo, or with up to 3 friends. Together you will enter Ulfenkarn to take part in one of four journeys – Hunt, Scavenge, Deliverance, and Decapitation, which are combined into a heroic quest to overthrow Radukar and his lieutenants to free the city from its undead curse. [1] Miniatures He’s got a witch-finder’s pointy hat and high collar, a rifle with an underslung stake launcher, a bandolier of extra stakes, and a hammer, anda big sword.

This clutch of Knights is a perfectly sized army project – it’s just a handful of miniatures, after all… The Chainbreaker Lance contains four Armiger-class knights led by Canis Rex , a legendary steed piloted by the equally epic Sir Hekhtur. For those of a less Freeblade persuasion, Canis Rex can also be constructed as any Questoris-class Knight. Battleforce: Thousand Sons – Court of The Crimson King Stay tuned for a more conclusive review in due time, once the Wolf has really had a chance to tear me to shreds, and eat my innards warm. Ulfenkarn is located in Shyish, realm of death, and was founded in the age of myth. During the age of Chaos, as the dread forces of the ruinous powers slaughtered their way across the mortal realms, the denizens of Ulfenkarn made a bargain with an unlikely saviour – Radukar the Wolf, Vampire lord of the Vyrkos dynasty. At the heart of Shyish, the ancient city of Ulfenkarn stands upon the precipice of doom. The cruel vampire lord Radukar the Wolf has transformed this once-proud city into nothing more than a feasting table for him and his coterie of malicious servants. Now, a group of heroes seek to lift the curse and free the city. The expansion does not include miniatures, but will require the following models on top of the miniatures from the original Cursed City box set:Decapitation– These are Cursed City’ssix keynote missions, in which you’re looking to make a targetedelimination strike on one of Radukar’s main lieutenants (and, finally, the Wolf himself). Each is essentially a DeliveranceJourney with a modified Huntgrafted onto it, for extra questiness. But, while you’re rooting about in cupboards looking for tins of strength-enhancing fantasy spinach, the Wolf’sInfluencegrows, as does the Fear among his victims. Best used sparingly, it would seem.

There are no new characters included in this expansion but there are Elite Classes. Since players in Nightwatch are already presumed to be max level, this is their next form of progression. Each character in the core game has a class, and each class has 2 options on how to progress once they are veterans and gain a single experience point. For example a Blade can become a Blademaster to become more nimble in combat or a Warlord to shout at their friends to fight better. This immediately grants them a new ability and from then on progression only happens when decapitating one of the 3 bosses. This means that growth is slower and more deliberate. Characters also can’t jump between classes, so choose wisely. By making these tied to character class rather than name, it opens the door for future expansions to add new characters so good call there. The Knights box is a little more flexible and a pretty good buy, as the models are generic enough to want multiples. Battleforce: Thousand Sons – Court of The Crimson King

In this second expansion for Warhammer Quest: Cursed City, use your collection of Soulblight Gravelords models to represent the undead hordes looking to reclaim Ulfenkarn for its exiled former dictator. You’ll find new missions, game mechanics, and even more challenging enemies. Plus, you might even bump into some old ‘friends’ along the way... A few more upgrades exist for the heroes as well, as to be expected. Paragon Classes now exist, another specialization to delve into once you cap your Elite class. These work exactly like Elite classes did, 2 options for each base class that further specialize their role. Again, no new characters but not surprising with the end of the story being nigh. This wasn’t the intended ending. Cursed City was unfortunately cancelled and this is what the writers came up with in the time allotted to them. Additionally, the game’s ending reveals there were never any stakes. Apparently, Nagash knew about the plot the whole time and was letting you do the dirty work. Furthermore, why do we care about if Radukar ascends? It isn’t like Nagash is all that great himself. The margins between the results if you succeed or fail are also very similar. According to the story here is what happens if you win:

What Is Warhammer Quest Cursed City?

There are acouple of other key in-game mechanics that are significant and/or novel enough that they merit pulling out among these first impressions.

There is one glimpse of hope – while saving Ulfenkarn is no longer possible, escape may be. An unknown benefactor, possibly an agent of Neferata, has informed the heroes that there is a realmgate below the city. If the heroes can find it and activate it the refugees can escape before the entire city is dragged into the abyss below.

WARHAMMER QUEST: CURSED CITY – THE MODELS

The heroes’ supplies are constantly dwindling, while the fear of the population is always rising, so many of your missions will be attempts to keep those two threats under control. Your characters will acquire experience and valuable items in the course of their adventures, gradually accumulating the power you’ll need to face Radukar himself. For now, at least – I’m looking forward to seeing his profile expand a little as my heroes explore the campaign. B+. The first expansion for Warhammer Quest: Cursed City has arrived. Use your collection of Soulblight Gravelords models to represent new vampire lords trying to fill the power vacuum left by your Heroes after the first quest. You’ll find three new journey types, new missions, even more challenging enemies, and new Elite Classes to empower your Heroes. [2] Contents The rules and materials for Nemesis are fine. They add additional difficulty and some small updates on the Haven but not a lot else. The new enemies are more interesting than in Night Wars but that isn’t saying much. If you missed fighting some of the old big bads, they can return in these missions but that is more annoying than anything else. Honestly, there is nothing in here to convince a skeptical person to buy the game, and nothing so bad as to force players who have already bought in to drop it (if you can even find it). If you are looking for a way to push your characters to the limit the final missions in this game will do that.
