Text-to-speech software is suitable for: Audio versions of module materials can be useful when you're on the move, on your daily commute, when travelling, or when away from home. You can also listen while doing other activities, such as household chores.

If you are with an organization that produces quality text-to-speech software, we'd like to hear from you!) Save As DAISY—created to allow people to easily produce DAISY Format material from structured MS Word documents. Daisy and the Trouble with... is the perfect step towards chapter book reading for readers ages 5+! Clever, compelling, confounding and absolutely delicious.' – Lisa Jewell, bestselling author of None of This is True Digital Talking Books (DTB) go far beyond the limits imposed on analog audio books because they can include not just the audio rendition of the work, but also the full textual content and images. Because the textual content file is synchronized with the audio file, a DTB offers multiple sensory inputs to readers, a great benefit to, for example, learning-disabled readers. Some visually impaired readers may choose to listen to most of the book, but find that inspecting the images provides information not available in the narrative flow. Others may opt to skip the audio presentation altogether and instead view the text file via screen-enlarging software. Braille readers may prefer to read some or all of the document via a refreshable Braille display device connected to their DTB player and accessing the textual content file. DTBs containing a textual content file but no audio material might be accessed via synthetic speech, screen-enlarging software, or a Braille device.Currently there are five main ways of generating or listening to audio versions of module materials:

Supplied with 4GB SD memory card, allowing you to store over 350 hours worth of content – or about 30 average-length DAISY books. The SD slot supports up to 32GB SDHC cards. As individuals, students all have different learning processes. Some students with and without disabilities, find audio is much more effective as a learning tool than text. Pipeline—content conversion processes available in multiple formats for technical and more novice users.

Or you can now get your books through an Alexa enabled device such as your smart speaker, tablet or phone. Tobi—audio book production tool for human narrated titles. Tobi is an authoring tool geared towards re-purposing published material. It allows users to add audio narration to a text-only document, to synchronize a podcast with a structured script, or to review and improve an existing Digital Talking Book. Not yet! Internet Archive books are text-only, and thus can only be listened to with software or devices that do their own text-to-speech conversion. The new NLS player plays only books with included audio and thus can't play our books. We are looking at producing DAISY books with included text-to-speech audio in the future. We have successfully tested reading protected DAISYs on the Humanware Victor Stream Reader with Firmware 3.2 or greater and an NLS key installed. These three devices should also be able to read all of our open DAISYs. Also comes with a silicone case, rechargeable battery, mains charger, earphones and two USB cables.
