I see the red orange, saffron (a Polo Red staple note), and leather in the base cling to each other synergistically creating a heavy fruity punch, rounded out subtly by the sage and cypress deep within. Patchouli's inherent sweet nature paints the picture of this one having coffee or chocolate, though neither are in the mix. Meanwhile, Dunhill Desire Blue is more of a summer daytime fragrance. Therefore, it can be worn to class, university, to the gym, or even during a day out on the beach. The projection also seems to die down after a while, the cologne is still detectable but it’s definitely not as loud as it was during the opening phase. Strong opening sillage, then, much more moderate.

Red and Blue did indeed fare best with younger people. While Red was more popular with women, Blue was actually enjoyed more by younger men. In both cases, people did remark that it would have been hugely success twenty or thirty years ago but seemed a little dated today. While they’re also both quite casual, they contrast each other enough to be used in different situations. For instance, Desire Red is an excellent nighttime winter fragrance and would be a great option for clubbing. Blue, quite literally on the other hand, has revealed its oceanic character with an unapologetic burst of calone. Fortunately, this is curbed slightly thanks to the orange blossom and rosewood, which some substance to the fatty aldehyde aquatic compound. There is a exotic/oriental type of spice which develops after a few minutes of wear. I think it is the combination of vanilla and musk which provides this light spiciness.

Blue Desire continues on its oceanic theme and the calone continues to follow into the base. Although some tonka bean and benzoin seek to add a gourmand flavour to this bouquet, it is mostly drowned out by the ambergris that only adds to the aquatic profile.

Yet, this doesn’t really show itself until the heart and we’re instead given a tart green apple note with some citrus zest from the lemon and neroli. Along with the rose, I get orange blossom, as an additional floral note. The floral presence is moderate, but definitely not overwhelming. In the opening act, you get apple as the main note, with a grab bag of citrus aromas coming in. Again, pretty unisex, at this point in time. Interestingly, and this is just an observation, each of the caps have a knurled finish except for Desire Blue. For some reason, it’s very slightly different. Similarly, it also features the name down the side while all the others are blank. Being an unconditional of its mother fragrance, it took me a long time to know this version, and it is not because it did not appeal to me, which is not the case, but I believed the comments on it ... In the end, a few months ago, I bought, in a Offer, a bottle of 100ml, and since that day I do not want to stop having it in my collection, like its mother fragrance ... I love it, another wild card undisputed to me.

Dunhill's Desire Extreme proves that not all luxurious-smelling scents are outrageously priced. It has been turning heads since 2017. Often called toilet water before modern times, eau de toilettes, such as this one, are less concentrated than EdPs and thus offer a briefer "staying time" of between 2-3 hours. Because they are lighter, they are a common choice for office wear.
