Description

She approaches the button box with as much stealth as she can muster. When she’s within a few feet of it, the image of a wild animal asleep in its lair flashes in her head, and she thinks: The button box doesn’t just give power; it is power. After a few catastrophic events prove to Gwendy that the box still has negative powers, she prepares to take it up with her into space. Gwendy learns that there are others who want to get their hands on it, hoping to use the box’s powers to advance themselves in ways they could not accomplish on their own. Gwendy will have to make some serious choices, as she orbits Earth, hoping to make Richard Farris proud and ensure the world is a safer place. A great end to the trilogy, in which King and Chizmar left the reader thinking a great deal about the power of suggestion and how control can sometimes be too much for a single person to handle. Gwendy's Button Box” by Stephen King and Richard Chizmar is the start of a trilogy I’ve been anxiously waiting to read for a while now. Believe it or not, I’ve yet to read a trilogy on my Kindle and figured if I’m going to start one, it needs to be by my all-time favorite author in King. I plan to read Gwendy's Button Box Trilogy consecutively and my goodness, the first book in this trilogy is fantastic. It happens again, not quite as egregiously, but still someone felt the need to cap several chapters with a completely unnecessary extra two-word paragraph. Following a mysterious phone call leaking information that Gwendy was seeking but was otherwise stonewalled,

His latest book, The Girl on the Porch, was released in hardcover by Subterranean Press, and Widow’s Point, a chilling novella about a haunted lighthouse written with his son, Billy Chizmar, was recently adapted into a feature film. A sequel titled Gwendy's Magic Feather, penned solely by Chizmar, was released in November 2019. [4] [5] In November 2020, Chizmar announced that he and King were writing a third installment in the series titled Gwendy's Final Task, this time as a full-length novel. [6] [7] It was published in 2022. The KING of the authors& brilliant Richard Chizmar saved the best for the last! And guess what they smartly weaved Roland Deschain’s universe into this story! Good news for Dark Tower fans! Both stories blended perfectly for us! I gave extra nerdy shrieks during my read each time I read those references! My geeky cells truly had a big celebration! One day, a stranger calls to Gwendy: "Hey, girl. Come on over here for a bit. We ought to palaver, you and me."

This is great King storytelling. No doubt there was help from Richard Chizmar, but a lot of the writing is just too “King” to be from anyone else. With an intro from Stephen King (who co-wrote the first Gwendy book), it's hard not to immediately fall in love with this one. However, I must say I was a little nervous when I realized that this sequel was written totally by Richard Chizmar. That's one fear I will never have again. This was just as good as the first one. As I said before, it’s a slow-burn kind of read that totally makes up for it with a huge, climactic ending. It was brilliantly written and when it happened, it delivered big time. I enjoyed it so much and couldn’t believe that’s what happened as it added another layer to my favorite character of this trilogy, Gwendy.
