Lars Kepler is a Swedish author who is actually two authors: the husband-and-wife team Alexander and Alexandra Coelho Ahndoril. They published their first novel as Lars Kepler, The Hypnotist, in 2009. They chose the pseudonym Lars Kepler as a tribute to Stieg Larsson, the creator of the Girl With the Dragon Tattoo series, and the German scientist Johannes Kepler.

I’m not going to lie. I enjoyed this series in the past, although I still need to read books 6 & 7 (both are sitting on my shelves, unopened, but this one is a copy from the library and I couldn’t resist), but I was very disappointed with this one, especially the way they presented a case of mental health. If this was written in the 70’s (or even in the 90’s) perhaps it would be acceptable, but not nowadays, when there are so many updated studies and more understanding around the topic. She is thinking about her father. About his sad face as she shouted at him that morning, the scratched glass on his wristwatch, his resigned gestures as she stormed out. She tries to keep her breathing calm. She knows she mustn’t throw up while her mouth is taped shut. Seventeen-year-old Jenny is abducted in broad daylight and taken to a dilapidated, isolated house where she is chained and caged along withseveralother girls. Theircaptor is unpredictable, and as wily as he is cruel: he foils every one of their desperate attempts to escape, and once caught they rarely survive their punishment. She hears a buzzing sound that lasts only for a few short seconds. Jenny adjusts her grip on the knife and makes a vertical cut in the fabric, right next to the last post. She parts the material slightlyErik Maria Bark is a clinical psychiatrist and hypnotist. He suffered a traumatic experience while practicing the latter discipline and had thus vowed to never practice hypnotism again. When he breaks that vow in the Hypnotist, the consequences prove to be horrific. He aids Linna again in The Stalker, the fifth Lars Kepler Book. The Hypnotist was translated into English by Ann Long in 2011. It was also made into an audiobook narrated by Mark Bramhall. In 2012, The Hypnotist was made into a movie directed by Lasse Hallstrom. Mikael Persbrandt played Bark, Tobias Zilliacus played Linna, and Jonatan Bokman played Josef. Stellar…. Theability of Kepler (the pen name of Alexander and Alexandra Ahndoril) to ratchet up the tension en route to a stunning reveal and an eminently fair solution is remarkable. This merits comparisons with the best of Thomas Harris.” — Publishers Weekly (starred) The officer climbs onto his motorcycle and starts the engine. She tries calling to him, but he doesn’t hear her. I have long come to enjoy the work of Lars Kepler, especially with the detailed narrative and strong storyline. There is something ‘unputdownable’ about the books, perhaps related to the depravity the antagonist presents throughout. The story flows well, even though it is translated, and the action continues throughout, keeping the reader on their toes during this dark journey.

Seventeen-year-old Jenny is abducted in broad daylight and taken to a dilapidated, isolated house where she is chained and caged along with several other girls. Their captor is unpredictable, and as wily as he is cruel: he foils every one of their desperate attempts to escape . . . and once caught they rarely survive their punishment. Lying among the lumps of dry mud and dark leaves, Jenny notices a front tooth. Adrenaline surges through her. This was my first Lars Kepler Novel and while I found it entertaining and very readable I wasn't convinced by the plotline or the character's actions. She looks down at the pavement, tries to compose herself, and is just considering calling for help when she sees a shadowy movement to one side of her leg. Now her lifeless body is found hanging in a playground. But there is no evidence and only one witness - a man who cannot remember what he saw.

And all this is perfectly organically integrated into the difficult plot of a detective thriller. with one caveat - there is no figure of the crucified Jesus on the mink skull, I have been looking at them on the Internet. She carefully lowers her head to her hands and presses the rusty blade to the plastic tie with as much force as she can. A tasty, if not always tasteful, tale of supernatural mayhem that fans of King and Crichton alike will enjoy. The eighth part of the adventures of a detective with the biblical name of Jonah, plunges the hero into the womb of another whale, with a full set of accompanying associations: a captive victim in a confined space, water, sharp teeth of guarding monsters, religious dogmatism.

The Androhils believe that Lars Kepler has a life of his own. They had attempted collaborations before, but had always wound up fighting. They have never fought when writing as Lars Kepler, and they describe the process of writing as Lars Kepler as being akin to two people playing the piano together. Some writer teams will write alternate chapters or divide the characters between them. The Androhils don’t do that, but they discuss the plots of their works all the time, so both know what they want to write. Writings This is the 8th book in the Joona Linna series by the husband and wife authors who go by the pseudonym of Lars Kepler. The conflicts and sense of urgency move the story forward and through some unexpected twists. The internal dialogues and the narrative pulls readers into the inner world of the characters making us unsettled, distressed, and thankful that Joona has the tenacity to keep investigating. Joona Linna is a protagonist like few others, with many of her personal struggles front and centre in the novel. While he is highly unorthodox, using illegal drugs to get through the day, his ability to investigate is like no other. Linna finds ways to get inside the heads of the most heinous killers and gets to the root of the crime. That being said, he cannot shake some of his personal issues, which shape all that he has become, making the stories all the more engrossing. I went into this book blind, which isn’t my go to but I am glad I did as this was a good and easy read.

She can’t see much—it’s as if her eyes are still asleep. Lines of sunlight break through the tarpaulin. A sudden wave of dizziness hits her, and she is just about to give up when the plastic snaps. The knife has cut through the tie. Dark, disturbing, and chillingly relentless. Picture Hannibal Lecter sitting down to channel Stieg Larsson and then dial it way, way up!” Jenny pauses beneath the power lines to light a cigarette, then sets off again. The buttons on the cuff of her sleeve glint in the light. Another wave of nausea rises up inside her, but she doesn’t have time to wait. The journey could be over at any moment.

She feels a searing pain in her ankle when she lands, but takes a step forward anyway, managing to maintain her balance. Misschien dat ik 'Spiegelman' niet het beste deel vind van de serie, maar ik heb wel weer volop genoten en kijk uit naar volgende maand. Dan zullen @thebooksofwonder en ik namelijk 'Spin' gaan lezen! The ground sways and lurches, the trees swirling around her, and the yellow meadow grass at the roadside pitches in the strong wind. She blinks, trying to make her eyes focus, and sees that the bars are missing on the other side of the trailer, where the curtain is reinforced with five rows of sewn-in poles instead. Misschien dat ik 'Spiegelman' niet het beste
