Description

Universal "Louder Faster Heavier" 45 RPM 08 Press. This pressing must be one of the worst pressing of the world. The album it sound very mechanic without realistic guitars and instruments. Also the press is very bad and you listen many noises and sound deformations all over the place. Surely one mp3 can sound miles better than this pressing. The 2017 remastered was a bit thinner against the original with less atmosphere, passion and explosion. "Levi" tried to make this cut to sound like the original mastering and the music has massive "Low End" which that mess the whole sound and the clarity of the music. In some parts the sound is muddy and I'm not fan for that. This pressing reminds me the "Roadrunner" original pressing with so much "Low End". But no one except the "Columbia House" engineer have not understand that this album shines in "Top End". In the "Columbia House" edition the the riffs and the music have incredible explosion and nothing mess the sound. Tight bass, "James" vocals higher than ever. The music trying to eat you alive with the "sharp" riffs. But here you miss any sharpness and any passion. Elektra Allied Press (this one). The 2nd best version of the album. Insane brightness, explosion and very sharp sound.

It is widely considered to be one of the greatest and most influential thrash metal albums of all time.

Release

South Korea 1989 Reissue. A collective material and nothing more. Moderate pressing and also missing 3 legendary songs of the album. Roadrunner 1st Press. Amazing Pressing to listen the album. Big bass that makes the album more warmer and great atmopshere and explosion. This is one of the best versions that has ordinary cutting method. Make sure to get this version in great shape because my first copy sounded bad because was "VG" and i get a new one in "NM" condition. Against the "Chris Bellman" remastered cut, this mighty sound fuller but also more muddy. The bass cover the entire music and you can not notice clear the guitars or enjoy "James" vocals clean and loud. Nice try but no.. This probably is the 9-10 best pressing of the album and I have listen around 20 different pressings. Seems good result in total but this album never had many good pressings. The first 5-6 pressings are much ahead against the others.

It was the last album with the bassist Cliff Burton, who died in a bus accident in Sweden during the album's promotional tour. In 2015, Master of Puppets became the first metal recording to be selected by the Library of Congress for preservation in the National Recording Registry for being "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant. Greece Vertigo 92 Press. This pressing remind me the 1st Elekra pressings. It's very sharp with amazing brightness and explosion. And has not a "DM" mastering like the "Elektra pressings. The only problem here is you get some distortions on the last song of each side.Master of Puppets peaked at number 29 on the Billboard 200 and received widespread acclaim from critics, who praised its music and political lyrics. Matrix / Runout (Side B, hand-etched / Variant 4 [E is stamped]): (P*AP) - STE-60439B - G1A E G1 E2 CBS/SONY Japan Press. The sound is very clean and bright. But you miss the explosion and the power of one "DM Mastering" pressing or the Columbia house edition. Also this version lags from bass and punchy sound. Still great material to have. You can enjoy the album without issues. Rhino version from Box Set of 2004: This version remind you the "MFN 45 RPM". It sounds very loud and very powerful with big mass. The problem here for me is this version has giant low end and not upper end. Master of Puppets it shines on upper end imo. This thing messed little the sound and buried the instruments. The original clarity and atmosphere was deleted in some point but still is a listenable material. At first you thought they used the original "George Marino" mastering but when the "Self-titled" starts, it was obvious that it was from the remastered of 2017 cause the less atmosphere and the less explosion against the original mastering.

Matrix / Runout (Side B, hand-etched / Variant 5 [E is stamped]): (P*AP) - STE-60439B - G1A E G1 D3

Notes

Master of Puppets is the third studio album by American heavy metal band Metallica. Originally released on March 3, 1986.

MFN 45 RPM 87. This pressing is very brutal and loud but it feels little compressed. I can listen many noises in the music when i put it loud. Compare it with the 1st Elektra Pressing it sound more louder and heavier but also not so sharp with plenty of noises. Still amazing pressing. Selected items are only available for delivery via the Royal Mail 48® service and other items are available for delivery using this service for a charge. Elektra Specialty Press. Very similar to Allied pressing but has some few noises in the Welcome Home and Damage inc but nothing seriousVertigo Europe 2001 Reissue: One of the most serious vinyl pressings of the album. You can get amazing power and quality here with minimun IGD in the last song of each side and without any surface noise. The instruments they sound very powerful and the music has big explosion. If you can, get this pressing because it's outstanding in my opinion. Very cheap at the momment and very balance sound. The cut on this vinyl was amazing. Vertigo Europe 89 Press. This pressing it sound "ok" but nothing serious. Has big low end and combinied with the "DMM" process the sound is very muddy and mess the clarity of the music. Also the pressing it is not so loud and when you up the volume you listen only the low end the cover all the instruments and you thing the upper end and the mids has deleted. But overall it's "ok" (I guess?) pressing for casual listenings.
