Tapenade is one of my favourite hors d’œuvre. It’s a condiment made of finely chopped olives, capers, anchovies, olive oil and sometimes a dash of lemon juice. It’s extremely popular in France, especially in the south of France, where most people will offer it in a small bowl or on slices of baguettes during the apèro. French fry sauce chips (or crisp sauce if you’re British) KP, which also makes the likes of Hula Hoops, Space Raiders, and Roysters, said Brannigans was well established in the pub trade and in catering businesses. They stood firm where the likes of Hula Hoops and Walkers fell down.

Pringles needs no introduction here. Like Lay’s chips, Pringles is everywhere in France and comes in various flavours you’re familiar with, like sour cream and onions and pizza flavour. They also come out with some unique French potato chip flavours. Here are two of them. Roast Beef and mustard chips In addition to the ever-popular sour cream and onion potato chips, Lay’s has created some interesting chips for the French palette and marketplace. Here are just two. Parisian Sandwich chips (Sandwich Parisien). Using award-winning potatoes grown on our Herefordshire farms, we slice and hand cook our crisps in small batches before flavouring them with the finest locally sourced ingredients to create a fresh taste and great crunch. Of all the French chips found in France, camembert chips probably stand out the most to foreigners. Do they really taste like Camembert? Yes, they do. Marine-flavoured chips (oyster and the sea)

Gone

Bid farewell to 'ready'&'salted', and introduce your taste buds to luxury potato crisps as we explore new taste horizons! Brets is a French chip company founded in 1991 in Brittany, which accounts for one-third of France’s chip market. They produce over 20 tonnes of potato chips annually with clever flavours tailored to the French market. One of the things that’s so interesting about potato chip flavours is that the chip manufacturers often create flavours that draw inspiration from local ingredients and cuisine in that country. These flavours are often unique and not found outside their home country. They were created by Mr Brannigan, a shopkeeper of Irish heritage, who launched his popular crisps from his market stall.

Ingredients: Potatoes, high-oleic sunflower oil, rice flour, yeast extract powder, onion powder, sugar, salt, natural flavouring (contains MUSTARD), spice (MUSTARD, white pepper), acid (citric acid), garlic powder, herbs, Tudges rare-breed pork extract, antioxidant: rosemary extract. The UK favourite, which was popularised in the 1980s, has been cut from KP due to “declining demand”. These aren’t the most popular chips, but If you love mushrooms, especially porcini mushrooms, you’ll love these cèpes (porcini) chips. They definitely have that umami quality. Tapenade potato chips Ingredients: Potatoes, high-oleic sunflower oil, Droitwich salt, antioxidant: rosemary extract. Suitable for vegans.

Popping perfection

La Belle Truffe, located in France’s Provence region, specializes in all sorts of truffle-flavouredfood items. Summer truffle potato chips For instance, Miang Kum chips in Thailand were created to taste like the sour and spicy Thai dish, after which it was named, which tastes like toasted coconut, peanuts, shallots, ginger, and lime. I’m more angry that I’ve forgotten about Brannigans Roast Beef and Mustard crisps, now I’ve been reminded of them, only to find out they’ve been discontinued and I can’t get them.
