The 122 is right at the lower end of the market and is a small, compact device that comes at a budget price. It has all of the essential features you need from a dashcam, including loop recording which writes over the footage you don’t need so you never need to delete the footage. If you need to keep footage, you can manually save it or the built in G-sensor can detect crashes and protect footage for you. If you don't have your smartphone with you, still-photo support on the Nextbase 112 lets you snap a picture at the press of a button.Starting this weekend, Lidl will be selling a budget-priced Nextbase dash cam as part of its Middle of Lidl sale. The Nextbase 622GW offers the highest image quality of any dash cam currently on the market, providing stunning 4k recordings at 30fps. The image stabilisation system reduces vibrations from your vehicle and improves footage clarity, while the Super Slow Motion feature means that drivers can view recordings in 1080p HD at 120fps. In theory, an HD camera should offer enough detail to make out licence plates. But note that we've had our hands on dash cams that shoot at superior resolutions - Full HD, 2K, Quad HD and 4K.
The GPS allows you to see where the footage was filmed which can be seen side by side with the footage itself, it also records speed which could help in any accidents or insurance claims. But when we tried it for ourselves, the dash cam we tested was a complete letdown, failing to recognise movement even at the highest sensitivity level.
