Overall, Priscilla is an officially "Certified Fresh" movie on Rotten Tomatoes, with it earning a 88% positive score as of November 3. Priscilla awards I found out how vicious people could be … there were rumours I was pregnant, and that’s why he got married and I’m going, ‘Oh my God, this is not gonna be good for me.’ The iconic couple of Priscilla and Elvis are played by Cailee Spaeny and Jacob Elordi, respectively. Turning Graceland – a private safe haven – into a money-making enterprise was “scary” for Priscilla. “Opening it up for the world to see was quite a brave thing for her to do,” Marchese says. And they never expected it would have been opened for as long as it has. “[It was assumed that] after five years, everyone who wanted to see Graceland [would] have seen Graceland, but by then the money will have built up and Graceland will have been saved.” In her autobiography, Elvis and Me, Priscilla admits that soon after arriving in Memphis, she spent most of her time at Graceland, but insists the relationship was never fully consummated until the couple married in 1967, when she was 21-years-old. Biographers and journalists who have suggested otherwise have not fared well in courts of law.

Is no one going to talk about the fact that Elvis was giving Priscilla drugs?! A 14 year old? And basically OD’d her at 16?! K, what????!!! Describing this time in her life, she wrote: "Every free moment was devoted to cramming a whole semester's work into a few weeks. But my concentration was scatted; the strain of life at Graceland had finally caught up with me." In comparison, the arrival of an impossibly preserved 76-year-old Priscilla to open the exhibition seemed positively understated.

Priscilla Presley admits she had two affairs of her own, and by 1972, the tumultuous marriage was irreparably broken down. The last straw, for Priscilla, came when Elvis, possibly having learned of the second affair with her karate instructor, Mike Stone, raped her in his Las Vegas hotel room, telling her, "This is how a real man makes love to a woman." Also, during this time, Elvis considered hiring a hit man to kill Stone, but ultimately did not follow through with the idea. I think Priscilla was a victim, a groomed child; that Elvis was toxic, verbally abusive, gaslighting, possessive, controlling and that eeeveryone around them, especially Priscilla’s *parents* should have seen and *acted on* all those red effing flags 🚩 for their 14 year old child! Who am I to say if the love was real… but I have a hard time grappling with the fact that it was allowed to happen. That no one stepped in. Sorry, but I DONT believe they waited for marriage to do the ol’ hanky-panky.

While she considered confiding in one of the nuns at her Catholic school about how much she was drowning under the weight of the pressure to get good grades andbe there for Elvis, she ultimately chose not to. The 78-year-old also clarified that when she left Presley years later, “it wasn’t because I didn’t love him – he was the love of my life. It was the lifestyle that was so difficult for me … We had our daughter and I made sure that he saw her all the time. It was like we never left each other. I want to make that clear.”

For much of his career, Elvis took sleeping pills and diet pills, but Priscilla writes that his addiction worsened in the years before his death when he started taking more “powerful, unnecessary prescribed drugs to raise his spirits and ward off boredom.” But there was also a period in his life with Priscilla when he was “seeking a higher state of consciousness,” dabbling in psychedelics. In Elvis and Me, she describes a LSD trip in which she “found [herself] in Elvis’s huge walk-in closet, purring like a kitten.” This freak-out inspires one of the funniest moments in Priscilla — and is by far the trippiest scene in any Sofia Coppola film. Did Elvis take up with a spiritual guru? Elvis was a very complex man and this book displays more than any other media I’ve come across what a problematic man he was. The age gap, his manipulation, and all the infidelity are so clearly stated in here, yet I’m surprised how casual Priscilla is about it and that the book ends on such a positive note regarding that. I would’ve wanted even more reflections from her side how she believes that this has affected her life and her personality. Or perhaps she had not even worked through that by the time she wrote the book. Has she even by now?

His desire for her was not only one heavily rooted in pedophilia, but also what appears to be a fantasy of incest in calling her “his little girl” and pushing for her to make physical changes that would result in a physical resemblance between the two of them. He didn’t just groom this little girl to be his ideal partner, but a daughter he could share a bed with and it’s nauseating. It's also disturbing to know that while Elvis was very controlling and abusive with Priscilla and those who worked for him, he was under the abusive control of Colonel Parker. It's a vicious cycle of abuse. has been a busy year for A24, which has already released When You Finish Saving the World, Sharper, Showing Up, Beau Is Afraid, You Hurt My Feelings and Past Lives, with Earth Mama, Talk to Me, Problemista, Medusa Deluxe, Occupied City, The Zone of Interest and All Dirt Roads Taste of Salt expected to join Priscilla as 2023 new movies. Priscilla plot I kept wanting more. More details. More in depth analysis about them. Yet I understand that this is their story and only their story to tell. No one else can or even has the right to share this. I’m certain that there is some bias in this book and that it’s not 100% impartial.Elvis' infidelity and the limitations of what Priscilla was able to accept come up in "Elvis and Me" several times.
