Rosen Blood is drawn and scripted by Kachiru Ishizue and Viz will release its first volume on December 7 Stella Violetta was passing through a forest on her way to start a new job as a maid when she experiences a carriage accident. She awakens in a strange Gothic mansion occupied by four men: Levi-Ruin, Friedrich, Yoel, and Gilbert. They hire her to be their live-in maid and do not let her leave the grounds. After working there for a while, she soon discovers the four men are vampires who feed on young women to survive. For her part, Stella avoids the common naive damsel trope for the most part, mainly in her relationship with Levi. She refuses to treat him with respect when he treats her like an object and that small assertion of agency puts the worlds above other female protagonists in these vampire reverse harem stories. Additionally, what begins as a reverse harem morph into a singular romance that settles into itself as a mystery begins to surface connecting Levi and Stella beyond the present. The manga was serialized in Akita Shoten's shōjo manga magazine Monthly Princess from September 6, 2017, to July 6, 2022. Akita Shoten collected its chapters in five tankōbon volumes, released from July 13, 2018, to September 14, 2022. Levi is the leader of the vampires, in control of his bloodlust and the house. Friedrich is a flirty florist existing to push a sexual boundary. Yoel is androgynous, childlike, and coy. And finally, Gilbert is the dangerous one, driven by his thirst but an artist all the same. These young vampires are all unique and beyond that, the ominous life-like sculptures cast a dangerous shadow on Stella’s life in the home. This is going to be an odd way to start a review, but I wanted to read Rosen Blood so I could form an opinion based on what someone had said concerning the beginning. I don't typically read about vampires nor am I super familiar with the tropes in this genre. This was my very first vampire manga read!

It was an interesting one to say the least. I did not think it bad, but more of some of the content was not for me. I wasn't fond of feeling like the main girl, Stella, is a potential "sex toy" for the men around her. While there is definitely no sex, the suggestive themes were strong and I wanted Stella to stand up for her personal boundaries. (There were no personal boundaries said, but I think I inadvertently put them upon her.)
