Categorized underneath are the resistance of the coil, voltage (only displayed while vaping), a puff counter and at the lowest point of the screen, the time spent on the last vape. I started off using the IPX80 with the 0.16Ω coil. This is a mesh coil with a wattage range of 25-50W so I filled it up, waited 5 minutes, and went straight to 40W which is the recommended ‘best’ wattage. This coil is a direct lung coil no matter how you set the airflow. Even with the airflow fully closed, it’s at best a slightly restricted direct lung hit. To talk about the flavor, it’s impressive. The vapor is really tasty and nice and warm at 40W. For a pod mod the IPX80 does well in the flavor department with this coil. I used a 70VG ejuice with this coil. I’m highly impressed by the consistent performance of the 0.16ohm mesh coil in the Smok IPX80 RPM2 pod. Every vape was a flavoursome winner! RPM2 0.6ohm DC Coil rated 12-25W

Overall the build quality of this device is excellent. The design isn’t exactly original but it looks good on this device. The IPX80 is going to lose some style points for the overplayed design but otherwise it gets good scores. If you are using external batteries we always recommend that you charge them using an external battery charger. Not only do they provide a more balanced charge they help to prolong the life of the battery. If you are charging your batteries inside the device it can lead to significant wear and tear on the micro USB port. Airflow rings can be individually altered to fine tune your inhale and control your desired vaping preference.

Smok has taken the idea one step further by introducing dual adjustable airflow dials while increasing the battery capacity of the Smok Nord 4 pod kit.

As much as this is a very powerful integrated battery, it could easily have been replaced with an 18650. Judging by the 34mm width of the mod it’s a viable option. The RPM2 0.6ohm DC coil powered to 22W gave me a considerably longer vaping period between charges. Short circuit protection is protection against excessive currents or current beyond the acceptable current rating of the device. As soon as an overcurrent is detected, the device trips and breaks the circuit. Low voltage protection Vapour production is drastically reduced over the DTL coil as is expected but perfect for the new vaper. RPM2 0.6ohm DC coil – Mid Restriction Not that this mesh coil is designed for that purpose, but there’s still only around a 50% restriction. Head scratching stuff for me, at least..

Coils insert into the bottom of the pod by way of press fit. Two coils come included with the IPX80 kit: I really like the screen on this device. It’s tall and in full color and it just looks really nice. At the top of the screen is a battery life indicator complete with percent. The set wattage is in big numbers in the middle of the screen, followed by the coil resistance, voltage, a puff counter, and puff time. Yes, there are only subtle airflow differences when vaping between fully open/closed dial settings but the flavour and cloud production is quite remarkable on any airflow arrangement. I’ve already mentioned the IP67 rating included as part of the external protections of the device. What else does the IPX80 offer us? I think I’d better move on before compatibility chaos ensues and I develop the inevitable headache from hell! lol
