While further testing is required to find a true answer for this, my personal belief is that the body was capable of dissipating heat at the same rate across all three high-performing fans for the 30-minute steady effort test. Based on my subjective rating for each fan during the testing and over a longer period of indoor riding, I believe follow-up testing with longer or more intense riding might further separate the fans, but more on this later.

Designed for heavy duty use, the WD L30 PCF is constructed with a stainless-steel collection tank, extension tubes and Air Flow control handle. Most people have a frontal cross-sectional area of about 0.5mIndoor training has changed radically over the past decade. It’s not so long ago a blank wall was the most common form of trainer entertainment. Repeats of old races were about as interactive as indoor riding got. Nowadays we can enjoy smart trainers, virtual worlds, and even artificially intelligent training plans. Core regularly conducts similar tests with some of the most elite athletes in the world – such as the Olympic gold medal-winning Norwegian triathlon team – and sports clothing brands to assess the cooling capabilities of their fabrics. In this case, the same principles were applied to evaluate and comparedifferent fans as a source of external cooling. That’s arguably the single biggest reason to have a connected fan like this. If you link the fan to your trainer, then as soon as the trainer activates some power floor, it’ll start pedaling. However, the one thing to keep in mind is that if you tie the fan speed to either power or speed values, that means while you descend it could cause the fan to decrease power/wind or even turn off. Thus, I’d strongly recommend instead aiming for connecting to heart rate, if anything at all.

So cost is a non-event. Much like the output from my aforementioned quad-cannons. Does The Vacmaster Cardio54 Make A Lot Of Noise? The first 10 minutes of the Cardio54 and Headwind tests were actually uncomfortably cold as I tried to warm up with the top two fans on full power. My perceived thermal stress rating is closely linked to each fan’s wind speed. I felt very little benefit from the barely noticeably wind speed from the 9″ desk fan, whereas the two top fans left me almost shivering with the wind chill. Perceived thermal stress score for each fan. Note the correlation with wind speed. I outlined the Elite app earlier in the review, and the Wahoo app in that review, however, you can basically see the entire Wahoo app fan sections above. It’s likely an decent fan would have brought about this epiphany. But for me it was the Cardio54 wot delivered it. So it occupies a special place in my loins. Using The Vacmaster Cardio54

The remote control works well (it just works) and it certainly beats having to get down off the bike each time you need to move up the Beaufort scale. Power Usage… Or How Much Does The Cardio54 Cost To Use? The Cardio54 has a remote control, which you can either wander around with (it’s like a car key fob) or fix in the rubbery strap that mounts it to your handlebars.

Speed: The worst of all. Uselessly low on a low-speed climb, and then blazing high while descending. Sure, it’s nice to have it high after the effort, but I’d rather have it during the effort too.I bought (requested the buying of) the Vacmaster some nine months into my indoor cycling journey. Until that point, I’d been using a cheap (I assume) desktop fan that makes more noise than air movement. Yes, the Headwind adapts automatically, but I prefer to adjust the speed manually and touchscreens do not play ball with my sweaty paws. Better yet, if the airflow distribution is a concern, I dare suggest setting up two Cardio54s in front and to the side of the trainer could provide even better airflow and still only match the price of the Wahoo. Spoiler alert: this dispatch from the veloblogging front line might tend towards the effusive. It’s not a paid endorsement though. I bought the Vacmaster myself. A 2.5m crush resistant suction hose and a toughened PVC 10m cable provide a working reach of approx. 14m. The Vacmaster WD L30 PCF 240V L Class Dust Extractor has been independently certified for the safe extraction of light hazardous dusts with a workplace exposure limit (WEL) value of > 1 mg/m3.
