Description

The performance of video conferencing and voice chat using apps like Discord, Zoom, Teams, or Facetime is outstanding, and while Corsair isn’t promoting the HS55 Stereo as a video conferencing solution, colleagues and friends will hear you loud and clear. Did you experience one or more of the following sound issues after installing the most recent iCUE software update? The final thing to discuss here is the headset’s sole flagship feature: dual wireless connectivity. The HS55 Wireless Core is able to connect to two audio sources at one time: 2.4GHz wireless using the included USB Type-A dongle, and Bluetooth 5.2. 2.4GHz is intended for gaming and provides a low latency connection for a wired-like experience that’s also compatible with PlayStation 5. Bluetooth has higher latency, but still works with all of your usual devices, including the Nintendo Switch. Unfortunately, the newer HS55 Wireless isn’t quite as solid when it comes to the low end. In games like Control and Cyberpunk 2077, I’ve noticed that explosions and other sounds that require that rumble for maximum effect just don’t have it – unlike the older HS55 Wireless Core, which delivers enough of it to give you just a bit of that body-shaking immersion. The sound quality is good overall, though not quite as rich and as full as we hoped. At default, there’s plenty of bass here, though perhaps not enough low bass extension to deliver that rumble you want from games and movies. There’s decent high end as well, but it’s a little rolled off so it doesn’t sound as crisp and detailed. The mid-range sounds a little recessed, particularly affecting the dialogue, which isn’t as crisp and clear. While you can still hear what the characters are saying, it sounds a little hollow.

The trade-off here is battery life. The HS55 Wireless claims to last around 24 hours, and in practical terms that's seen me only charge it one time in the past week of use. Not bad, but miles off the Cloud Alpha's marathon 300-hour battery life. Corsair has always had a reputation for creating clean-looking products, and the Corsair HS55 Stereo conforms to that ideal. My review sample was of the white and silver colour option, which gives the headset a modern look. Do not leave the battery fully discharged for long periods. Battery life is maximized by keeping the battery in a partially charged state.

The biggest upgrade on the Corsair HS55 Wireless is in its sonic performance. While it does share a lot of similarities with the HS55 Wireless Core – they both tend to compress a little once the volume is over 50, it also corrects some of its predecessor’s flaws. Those 50mm Neodymium audio drivers really do make games come alive, with every explosion or hit having a real robust sound. If there’s any criticism that we have with the performance of the Corsair HS55 Stereo, it is that the bass response can be a little strong. You might not hear it in your Discord or Facetime chat, but the problem is most notable with casual listening. The big thing to know is that the device can’t accept simultaneous audio in the same way a more premium headset like the Steelseries Arctis Nova Pro Wireless can. You can only listen to one source at a time, but it will automatically interrupt game audio if a call comes through and restore it once you’re done. Audio Performance of the Corsair HS55 Wireless Core REPAIR OR REPLACEMENT GUARANTEE: We will either repair your device within the promised time or give a replacement FREE OF COST. As i said audio is subjective so you may not like the software integrated 7.1 audio. But to me it is fabulous.

The Corsair HS55 Stereo has a lightweight build at 273g, which helps the comfort factor, too. On that point, the headset comes with a decent amount of padding, both around the ear cups and especially the headband. For the price, this headset is especially plush, and it’s nice to see such voluminous padding on a more affordable headset. CASHLESS & UNLIMITED REPAIRS: You DON’T PAY for any spare parts, labour or transportation charges. Unlimited repairs up to the invoice value of the device. For the price, the Corsair HS55 Wireless certainly hits that sweet spot between performance, features, and price. This model is finally winning. There are bountiful reasons as to why a wireless gaming headset is a good decision. The most obvious being the freedom to get up and walk away from your desk at any time without dragging your PC tower off with you. A wired headset is hardly a hassle, but I'll admit it is nice to not have to keep taking my headset on and off every time I run off for a bathroom break or to grab a coffee between raid encounters. I've been testing a wired headset for the past few weeks, and so the Corsair's wire-free functionality has been a bit of a blessing. And as for comfort the clamping pressure of this headphone is bit high but you will get used to it.

NOTE: The first time you use the CORSAIR HS55 WIRELESS headset on a PC, the operating system will automatically install a device driver. After the device driver is installed, we recommend you reboot your PC before use. Corsair gives it better sound performance and more features for the same affordable price, which makes it a better value than before.

How well does the Corsair HS55 SURROUND attenuate noise?

The Corsair HS55 Wireless Core offers — or, tries to offer — a lot for a relatively low price. This wireless, over-ear gaming headset is one of a few that features dual-mode wireless connectivity, meaning it lets you connect to two devices (using 2.4GHz wireless and Bluetooth 5.2) simultaneously. Note though, that it does not support simultaneous listening from both sources the way the SteelSeries Arctis Nova Pro does. Regardless, this is a feature we don’t often see in less-expensive headsets. I will say that this mic isn't quite as convenient as some others, however. My colleagues said it came through a little quiet in meetings, which wasn't much of an issue as the flexi-arm allows you to bend it a little closer to your face. However, once bent into place, I found it tends to catch my hair and rest against my face a little once flipped up. It's a small thing, but it makes it just a little bit fiddlier than other headsets I've tested.

For best performance, bend the flexible microphone boom to best fit near the left corner of your mouth. A 30-degree bend is a good place to start, but you can adjust this if your mic is too loud or too soft. VOLUME CONTROL NOTE: Prolonged listening at high volumes may adversely affect your hearing. Take breaks between sessions and always begin with the volume at a low level before increasing. MICROPHONE CONTROLUse the volume control/EQ select wheel to adjust volume up or down. In addition, pressing the volume wheel cycles through four audio EQ presets: Standard, Bass Boost, Movie Theater, and FPS Competition. CHARGING
