Description

Batman: Shadow War (Shadow War: Alpha #1, Batman #122-123, Deathstroke Inc. #8-9, Robin #13-14, Shadow War Zone #1, and Shadow War: Omega #1) Slade has a long history as an enemy of the Teen Titans, beginning when his other son Grant received superhuman enhancements from the H.I.V.E., dubbed himself Ravager, and accepted a contract from them to kill or capture the Teen Titans. [9] However, Grant's enhancements proved fatal, and Slade agreed to complete the contract. His first mission involved stealing the element Promethium from S.T.A.R. Labs and selling it as the ultimate weapon. He then kidnapped the Titans and placed them in the path of a Promethium bomb to test his device for the buyers, effectively killing two birds with one stone. The Titans escaped and pursued Deathstroke, but he severely wounded Beast Boy in his escape. This would be the start to a lasting animosity between the two. With the team in upheaval, the Titans do everything in their power to save Jason's life. But when Deathstroke demands they turn over Rose, the dilemma threatens to tear the team apart. Grant Wilson (portrayed by Jamie Andrew Cutler), Slade's youngest son, continues his father's legacy by forming the Deathstroke Gang. A possible future version of Grant from the year 2046 also appears in the spin-off series Legends of Tomorrow. Superhuman Agility: Deathstroke's agility, balance, and bodily coordination are enhanced to superhuman levels, allowing him to easily evade rapid gunfire. [24]

Deathstroke has been adapted in various media incarnations, having been portrayed in television by Manu Bennett in Arrow and Esai Morales in Titans, and in film by Joe Manganiello in the DC Extended Universe. Ron Perlman and others have provided the character's voice in animation and video games. Deathstroke, referred to simply as Slade, appears in Teen Titans, voiced by Ron Perlman. This version is an enigmatic criminal mastermind who seeks to eliminate the Teen Titans, take over Jump City, and turn Robin and later Terra into his apprentice, though Terra sacrifices herself to kill Slade and save the Titans. Slade is resurrected as an undead, pyrokinetic being by Trigon to aid in his conquest of earth. After being betrayed, Slade temporarily joins forces with the Titans to defeat Trigon and regain his mortality. The Deathstroke Annual for 1994 was an Elseworlds story featuring Deathstroke in a post-apocalyptic world. Deathstroke fights a legion of mutants and desperately tries to help humanity rise from the ashes of its ruined civilization. [54] The Uncanny X-Men/The New Teen Titans [ edit ] Slade later found out that Odysseus was his resurrected father, and scientists had used Slade's son, Jericho, to do this. [19] Afterwards, Slade began to operate under the Deathstroke identity as a mercenary for hire, eventually becoming known as the world's greatest and deadliest assassin. [10] First Encounter with Batman In 2006, Wizard magazine ranked Deathstroke 24th in their "Top 100 Greatest Villains Ever" list. [49] Slade hoped to prepare himself for the Darkness he saw on one of his missions with his new society, but was soon met with the arrival of his daughter Rose and a kid that called himself Respawn, who was actually a clone created from Talia al Ghul's DNA and a sample of the super-soldier formula extracted from Slade Wilson's veins. [47] As Slade made his new son join the Society of Super-Villains, he was blamed for killing Ra's al Ghul in the middle of a public statement after an impostor that was dressed as him did it. This put Slade and his family on a collision course with Talia al Ghul and her League of Shadows. [48]

Toxic Immunity: Deathstroke's regenerative healing provides him with a enhanced immunity to toxins. When exposed to a dangerous paralyzation toxin, it only slowed Slade from superhuman levels, to that of a normal human, rather than instantly paralyze him. [67] Although the comics version of Rose was born with extra abilities from Slade’s DNA, she didn’t initially have his regenerative powers. In ‘Teen Titans ½’ #1 Slade manipulated Rose into joining his villainous crusade. Deathstroke does not come with a gun, even though he was released before Warner's "gun ban" on toys marketed to young children. Instead, there's a non-removable gun in the right thigh holster. This is actually a detail I wish had been included with the live-action Robert Pattinson Batman figure (it was there in the 12-inch statue). However, the left hand has a trigger finger, so you can use guns from other McFarlane figures if you have them.

Deathstroke Vol. 2: God Killer ( Deathstroke Vol. 3 #7–10, Annual #1, Sneak Preview from Convergence: Batman: Shadow of the Bat #2 978-1401261207)Tactical Analysis: Deathstroke has been described as a tactical genius and is easily the equal of Batman in terms of strategic planning. He describes his mind as a super-computer designed to process information and break it down with superior tactical and strategic thought. [69] Deathstroke's intellect is deadlier than his sword. He typically out-thinks and out-strategizes everybody in the book. [63] He was even able to capture both Flash and Kid Flash without anyone noticing. [35] Lapetus has commented that Slade possesses "a sharp strategic mind", for a mortal.
