Megan's deep love for pop culture and her keen eye for detail make her a valuable contributor to FortressofSolitude.co.za. Her articles are informed by her extensive knowledge of literature and her ability to analyze and interpret complex themes and narratives. On a planet covered in water, a fun and adventurous species known as the Kukoos live on the only island that is home to the Kukoo tree. After an experiment in which the Kukoos attempt to make their pets more obedient goes haywire, it is up to the Kukoos to find their newly aggressive and unruly pets and regain control, restoring harmony to the once peaceful Kukoo tree. The opening level cleverly combines introducing the story and teaching you the controls. It’s the annual festival for pets on Kukoo Tree Island – a day of celebration and competition. However, whilst trying to complete the obstacle course (aka tutorial), your faithful pets are distracted. Rather than fly you gracefully to the finishing post, they drop you unceremoniously to the ground. If only they were more obedient! King Kooktopus Mark your calendars for the highly anticipated release of the Kukoos: Lost Pets Game on December 14, 2021. Whether you are a seasoned gamer or a casual player, this action-adventure game offers something for everyone. So, gather your friends, prepare your skills, and get ready to join the Kukoos on an adventure like no other. Will you be able to find your lost pets and restore harmony to the Kukoo tree? The fate of the Kukoos' world rests in your hands!

The platforming abilities that you will have at your disposal are pretty simple. There is a jump and a dive. The powers you will have to use to get through the game are the ones given to you by rescuing the pets throughout the different worlds, each giving you a unique ability to use for the duration of while they are in your company. Kukoos: Lost Pets is a game that I could have given scraped for passing grade with some heavy notes if it actually managed to do everything that it had set out to. However, the technical flaws here just added up too much for me to even make it to the end, so I can’t even give it that much credit. It’s a real shame what happened here and I can only hope the developers will learn from this. Pros

Vibrant Locations to Explore. Discover vast, colorful worlds each with their own unique biomes, hidden secrets, dangerous residents, and environmental wonders. The four worlds are so different and creative, and the creature’s abilities are refreshingly varied. It was an absolute delight to play and watch. I’m looking forward to replaying the levels and finding all those secret spots.

As a player, collaboration is the name of the game as you need to collaborate and play between twelve different Kukoos and team up with five unique pets so that you can use their unique abilities to solve puzzles and defeat some of the more dangerous residents of the Kukoo worlds. You can play the game on your own or invite friends with up to 4-player multiplayer co-op to quadruple the fun of the game!Kukoos: Lost Pets is also somewhat unclear when it comes to giving instructions. When teaching you about a new mechanic that requires two buttons to be pressed. It will often only tell you about one of the buttons in question. In the tutorial, I was given my first pet companion to use, a little pair of balls with wings that I could use to fly, and told to press the A button repeatedly to fly up to the higher platforms. I pressed A and… jumped. I pressed it over and over and nothing different happened. Turns out I had to press R to equip the pet first and then press A repeatedly to fly. It might seem like a little oversight, but had I not been pressing every other button on the controller to figure this out, I would never have progressed. I even played the tutorial a second time to see if I had simply overlooked the prompt and no, there was still nothing telling me to press R to ready the pet. Kukoos: Lost Pets is available on PlayStation 4, PC (through Steam) and the Nintendo Switch and has been since its release in mid-December of 2021. Unfortunately, the co-op multiplayer may be limited to the local co-op, and there hasn’t been any indication that this will change in the future. But if it isn’t broken, why fix it? Hopefully, this will be changed so that friends who own the game on various platforms can play together online.

King Kooktopus, king of the entire watery planet (except for Kukoo Tree Island), arrives to compete in the games. He impresses all the Kukoos with his amazing pet, Frog. They complete the course with ease, speed and accuracy. How was he so successful? It’s because he’s using the latest technology, the Kukoomand – a pet collar designed to make pets obey your every command. All the Kukoos rush to buy these collars, and soon all the pets on Kukoo Tree Island are wearing them. They’re possessed! The Kukoos are a fun and adventurous species that live on the only island on the planet dominated by the ocean, home to the massive Kukoo tree. It is up to you to play as one of the memorable characters to quell the pet rebellion and restore harmony to the once-peaceful Kukoo Tree. This cute adventure will take you through many worlds, many levels, and platforming experiences. Still, I suppose I should talk a little bit about the art and sound of this game because I did have a few thoughts about them, even in the short time that I was able to play. The art style is not one that I am personally fond of. It looks cute enough, I suppose, in that way that every 3D platformer tries to be these days, but I just personally found the character designs to be a little on the ugly side. For some people they might find them cute or ugly-cute, but for me they weren’t my cup of tea. I had been ready to dub Kukoos: Lost Pets a pretty flawed but ultimately alright kind of a game, but at this point I can’t even give it that. It’s got flaws, but it’s also simply broken in some way as well. From what I can tell, there are four worlds (unless there’s some secret one once you finish, which there may well be), and at the point that I had to stop, the game had me at about 24% total completion, though I wasn’t exactly trying very hard to get every collectable. Rabid One of my criteria for a good game is the desire to replay it, and the need for more – and Kukoos: Lost Pets is a really good game.

Unfortunately, the game isn’t free of glitches and bugs, including visual and sound problems, but that shouldn’t detract from the fun you can have in the exciting world of the Kukoos. It might be a little bit frustrating, but it’s something that you can look past, especially for a game with such an exciting story. There were also comments about loving the fwendly plants and the fwendly door, which players found hilarious and enjoyable time. This game would suit anyone, from younger audiences to older and more experienced players. It is suitable for the whole family for a four-player adventure.Kukoos: Lost Pets is a colourful 3D platforming adventure. Jump and dash your way around various worlds to find your faithful pets, free the brainwashed creatures and restore peace to the tiny island of the Kukoo Tree. Obviously, the main objective is to get the level key to move on to the next mission. If this is your style of gaming, then expect to complete the game in around 5 hours.
