I bought the NexStar, the 8" was too expensive, got the 6SE instead and called the old astronomers, and I went to a star party last year. And surprise, I was the only one with eyepieces and I saw what the others may see, just the DSLR subframes where jaw dropping, and some of these guys where using monochrome cameras and filter wheels and tons of experience, 50% where using AVX mounts, and some modified EQ mounts with a single motor, I used a borrowed camera to try some AP, I was blown away and saw the limitations of my equipment Alt-AZ. The NexStar 6SE uses high quality optics to prevent distortions and keep the image sharp, whether you are looking at the moon’s surface or the Andromeda galaxy. Just set your expectations. I could never get round stars corner to corner even with perfect collimation. Since it's not an HD glass, there will always be some curvatures and it will be noticed in the edges. Bought a PowerMate x2.5 for planetary imaging about two weeks ago and got reminded again how nice this scope is for planetary and moon.

Having used this telescope for over a year, I have been able to capture some outstanding images of celestial objects – including some pretty impressive pictures of Saturn. Short exposures have their limitations and on occasion you most likely want to move on to an equatorial mount. Forget about the wedge for the NexStar and get a proper mount at that point. Until that point just enjoy your current setup and collect experience with data aquisition and processing. There is a lot to learn in this hobby and you can learn most of it with your current setup. Since the NexStar mount has a Vixen clamp you can even experiment with other scopes or your camera lenses for more wide field experience. Used Lenses for Mirrorless Cameras Used Lenses for Canon EOS R Used Lenses for Nikon Z Used Lenses for Sony Alpha Used Lenses for L-mount Used Lenses for Fujifilm X Used Lenses for Micro 4/3 Used Lenses for Canon EF-M Used Lenses for other Mirrorless Cameras A modified DSLR with a flip screen is my recommendation for having a good time and get a good EQ mount, disclaimer, a few corners ahead you will need a computer, so a dedicated astronomy camera is a great deal, use your own PC for all. This OTA demands guiding, try an On-axis guider and start messing around, the guiding camera is better if you buy a small ZWO planetary color camera or/and you could practice with the planets.I personally like to use this telescope to observe the night sky, but it also can be used and works very well in the day. SkyAlign I'm still using the 6SE OTA for imaging, but I really regret buying the NexStar 6SE, the Optical Tube is good, and below I can share some mods to improve the quality from it's origin. Please do not invest in accessories like the StarSense Autoalign and bundles and bulk. Stay away from Celestron's products! The Celestron NexStar 6SE is the 6-inch model, which obtains up to 44% more light than previous (5 inch) model. We also went off-catalog and went searching the heavens for comet C/2022 E3 as it passed its closest to Earth. Googling then manually entering the RA (right ascension) and Dec (declination) – coordinates on the sky that correspond to longitude and latitude on Earth – was a bit of a pain, but the Celestron NexStar 6SE produced a decent view of this faint and diffuse object. Our first target was Mars, its red hue immediately obvious, with other solar system targets even more impressive. Jupiter’s moons were presented clearly around the giant planet’s bright, happily, optically precise disk. There was no hint of any color fringing around this bright object. Ditto a First Quarter Moon, on which we observed the light and shadow close to the sunset/sunrise line. We could clearly see the magnificent Apennine Mountains, using high-power eyepieces to survey Mare Imbrium and the Archimedes crater in impressive detail.

Mirrorless Cameras Canon EOS-M Cameras Canon EOS-R Mirrorless Cameras Fujifilm X Mirrorless Cameras Nikon Z Cameras Sony Alpha Cameras Panasonic Lumix S Cameras Panasonic Lumix G Cameras Olympus OM-D & PEN Cameras Canon EOS-M Mirrorless CamerasSo this makes this telescope great for looking at specific distant objects and can show you some truly stunning details that other telescopes just can’t see. These three things create a beast of a setup that is impressive. When it is all working correctly, the whole system together is a marvel to watch in action. It makes you realize how far technology has come in the last decade. The Ghost in the Machine

Along with the motorized Alt-Az mount is also a field tripod with 1.75” legs. This is easily sturdy enough to hold the weight of the mount and optical tube without much influence from the wind or other vibrations. Using a computerized telescope is brilliant for finding objects. However, there is a downside in which you should be aware (but thankfully it can be overcome).Though pricey, the Celestron NexStar 6SE is well worth the money. It is one of the best telescopes for amateur astronomers looking to take their hobby to the next level. I’ve been thoroughly impressed with it since the first time I used it. For example, on the first night, the SkyAlign alignment worked as described and I was able to see Saturn with great clarity.
