He asked Colin, the HCA to support both students to deliver care to all three women, but particularly Janet and Annie. This is the 2nd death on Platform Seven in 18 months and Lisa was the first of the two who died. She feels these deaths are somehow connected.

Dancing Ledge Productions is one of the UK’s leading production companies creating; bold, authored, award-winning drama and nurturing future generations of creative talent. Run by multi BAFTA award-winning CEO Laurence Bowen and Emmy award-winning Managing Director Chris Carey, the company’s most recent productions include: The Responder starring; Martin Freeman and The Salisbury Poisonings starring; Anne-Marie Duff, Annabel Scholey and Rafe Spall. A teaser shares: “The drama is a haunting thriller following central character Lisa who, after witnessing a cataclysmic event on platform 7 of a railway station, finds her own fragmented memory jogged to reveal a connection between her own life and that of the event she has just witnessed. Jasmine Jobson said: “I’m super excited to be taking the lead in this amazing psychological thriller, based on Louise Doughty’s phenomenal best-selling novel. I’m also thrilled that I get to show audiences a completely different side to what I can do on screen with this character.” Paula Milne added: “This is no traditional ‘spooky’ ghost story. It’s the tale of a ghost on a quest to discover who she was and the events that led to her untimely death. Her story is a celebration of indignation versus passivity and truth versus lies. Darren was very aware of the need to start discharge planning very early on and ensuring appropriate referrals were made to social services for Elouise and discussed this with her.

Overall I think that the idea was better than the execution. There were scenes which were both powerful and horrific, but more often than not these were lost in a painstakingly redundant narrative which repeatedly looses itself in digressions that added very little to the overarching story. Dancing Ledge Productions’ Managing Director, Chris Carey (The Responder, The Salisbury Poisonings), was executive producer on the drama alongside the company’s CEO, Laurence Bowen (The Responder, The Salisbury Poisonings) and BAFTA winning executive producer Kate Triggs (A Very British Scandal, The Trial of Christine Keeler). Paula Milne and Louise Doughty were also executive producers. In July 2022, ITV commissioned a four-part adaptation of Louise Doughty's Platform Seven from Dancing Ledge Productions, penned by Paula Milne. Chris Carey and Laurence Bowen of Dancing Ledge would executive produce the series with Kate Triggs. The series is produced by Rosalie Carew and directed by Sarah Walker. [1] Annie was having IV antibiotics and Darren noticed that she kept trying to pull the cannula out, so Darren found ways to distract her. He demonstrated this to Saima and Colin who were both able to keep closer observations of Annie. He also assessed Annie’s fluid intake and urinary output to ensure that she was not dehydrated, and asked Saima to monitor her pulse, temperature, respiratory rate and blood pressure.

What is the point where a human being stops being a human being and becomes a thing? Most people think it happens with death but Dalmar knows it can happen a long time before then if it needs to, so that other people can bear what they are seeing. ” Screenwriter Paula Milne adds... “This is no traditional ‘spooky’ ghost story. It’s the tale of a ghost on a quest to discover who she was and the events that led to her untimely death. Her story is a celebration of indignation versus passivity and truth versus lies. While writing from Louise Doughty’s astute and emotionally intelligent novel, I began to feel she’s the ghost in all of us; the unseen part ofus when we find ourselves reflecting on the wisdom of our past decisions. Sometimes with regret, occasionally with rancour but more often with the complicated relish of what it means to be human.” Who is Louise Doughty? Yet Platform Seven is neither a ghost story nor a murder mystery. Seeing the plot unravel through the eyes of the ghost of Evans is an interesting twist on the idea of an omniscient narrator. Perhaps it is more than that: Evans’s ghost, like all ghosts, can pass through doors, and go with apparent ease where the living struggle to go or fear to tread. Thus, fiction can be a way to reflect on matters of life and death which may be too painful to explore in real life, real though they may be to those who encounter them. This is, perhaps, true of historic sexual abuse, but also of coercive control and suicide, two of the subjects explored in Platform Seven.Overall a good read that in my personal subjective opinion could do with a more hefty edit - beginning and ending magnificently but losing cohesion at the centre. We are so excited that BAFTA nominated Jasmine Jobson - one of the most brilliant acting talents to emerge in the last few years – is our lead in Platform 7. Powerhouse screenwriter Paula Milne’s brilliant scripts, based on Louise Doughty’s best-selling novel, have also attracted a stunning supporting cast alongside Jasmine; Toby Regbo, Yaamin Chowdhury, Reece Ritchie and the incomparable Phil Davis also star and this combination, along with our superb creative team behind the camera, promise to deliver a properly compelling story that will delight and surprise audiences on ITVX later this year.” The drama is a haunting thriller following central character Lisa who, after witnessing a cataclysmic event on platform 7 of a railway station, finds her own fragmented memory jogged to reveal a connection between her own life and that of the event she has just witnessed. Supernatural elements combine with contemporary realism in this chilling drama.

Darren also has a named practice assessor who is different to his practice supervisor and not working on this day. Planning for his shift Platform Seven begins and ends in a place that is shared by many, if not most, visitors and residents alike. Louise Doughty’s description of this prosaic gateway in and out of the city is both accurate and haunting: “Peterborough Station sits in the middle of England like a spider alert to movement, even when it appears hunched and still.” Elouise has a two-year-old daughter (Riley) who she’s very concerned about as the last few months have been disruptive. Elouise lives with Riley in bed and breakfast (B&B) accommodation awaiting local authority housing. She moved to the B&B from a woman’s refuge having recently left an abusive relationship. Riley is currently being looked after by a trusted friend as Elouise is currently estranged from her family. Darren discusses his learning objectives for the day with his practice supervisor. Darren provided his supervisor with an in-depth level of understanding of the health status of all three women, clearly explaining the physical, mental and social aspects of their care and the interaction of their medications. He spoke about evidence that he had read concerning audit results of infection control in wounds and guidelines for treating the wound. Darren also recognised that a couple of people in his care were experiencing nausea, so he chose to research the evidence of anti-emetics and the length of time people should be ideally nil by mouth. The series has been written by Paula Milne (Him, The Politician’s Husband, White Heat), adapted from the globally renowned bestselling novel of the same title by Louise Doughty.Platform 7 will go into production later this year. Details of casting will be released closer to filming commencing. Dancing Ledge Productions is one of the UK’s leading production companies creating; bold, authored, award-winning drama and nurturing future generations of creative talent. Run by multi-BAFTA award-winning CEO Laurence Bowen and Emmy award-winning Managing Director Chris Carey, the company’s most recent productions include: Crossfire starring Keeley Hawes, The Responder starring Martin Freeman and The Salisbury Poisonings starring; Anne-Marie Duff, Annabel Scholey and Rafe Spall. In April 2022, global producer and distributor Fremantle took a majority share in the company. It is told from a unique perspective and the writing is quite interesting but the book goes on a bit of tangent and ends up being like any other thriller. It was quite a drag to get to in the end Platform Seven by Louise Doughty is an incredibly ambitious novel. At its most basic, it is an exploration of a coercive relationship, but it has plenty to say about the value of life and the lives of individuals and the communities in which they live and work. Most audaciously, the narrator is dead, which makes Doughty literally a ghost writer. There are times when the resulting book rivals anything else I will read this year, and even when the novel stumbles there is plenty to consider. Because of this I was never able to immerse myself in what she was narrating, and part of me wishes that it had all been narrated from a third perspective as it would have made ghost-Lisa slightly less off-key and more convincing.

The pacing of the story was rather uneven. Occasionally the slow and ambiguous narrative could create and build tension. For example, Doughty emphasises Lisa's unease during a fight with Matty at their favourite restaurant by dragging out the description of a pepper mill: Darren demonstrated in all aspects of the care that he was involved the ability to adhere to the Code, and clearly identified the Duty of Candour. He also had to think critically and used an array of evidence to draw conclusions and actions about the care he provided.

Darren and his practice supervisor, Grace, agree that they’ll both need to support and coach the other two student nurses to care for the three women, especially with some of the more complex conversations and communications that were needed.
